Golden State goes full Pleasantville to close the 3rd quarter.  Bombs from Curry, of course, but the topper was Poole, with the clock winding down, crossing half court,  shaking the D by going behind the back, and getting the splash with the red light on.

Wow, what a game.  Boston comes out with chest up/no help responsibility defense to shut down Curry, and do so.  But Wiggins and Thompson come through with 26 and 21. On a night when Golden State shoots just 9 of 40 from 3pt range, the Warriors get 50 pts in the paint (to Boston's 36), 9 steals ( to Boston's 2), and only 6 turnovers ( to Boston's 18).  As a result, tonight it was the Celtics complaining about the officials' no calls.

Nice to see the Warriors back on top again! Amazing return to form after the covid years.

And after losing Klay Thompson for two years.

A great series, really, slightly marred at times by the sloppy play of a young Celtics team. But Boston also showed a lot of strength and am ability to dominate, so nothing to hang their heads about

Statistically the two teams were pretty close except in two key areas.  Though 3pt shooting % was near identical, Golden State attempted & sank eight more than Boston (19 vs 11 made).  The Warriors forced 22 Celtic turnovers vs 15 of their own, which was pretty much the story of each of Golden State's four wins.

Congrats to Curry finally getting the MVP award.

Where does Golden State's four titles in eight years rank  with other NBA dynastic achievements?  The 50s Minneapolis Lakers won five titles in six years and the 80s LA Lakers won five titles in nine  years.  The 90s Bulls won it all six out of eight years.  People sometimes forget that the Popovich/Duncan San Antonio Spurs won five titles over a 15-year span. The pinnacle of course is Boston's eleven titles in thirteen years, including eight straight.

Not that anyone really checks here, but Damian Lillard just signed a 2 year extension for 122 million.  To which every single NFL player said WTF....

There are a lot of NFL players that make more per game....

I assumed this would be about the brawl!

This is funny, though, because I predict LeBron will still whine about how often he gets fouled . . .

Kyrie wants to go somewhere where he feels he's respected rather than just tolerated.

How about not being an asshole, Kyrie?   That would probably help.

In his defense, he did get screwed over by the NYC  COVID lunacy

LeBron breaks scoring record.

At home.  In a losing effort.  To a team with a losing record.

Tributes come in from all over the globe, but especially from China.

One game after the personal record is broken, LeBron sits out an important home game against one of the better teams (Milwaukee) due to ankle soreness, in the middle of the playoff chase.

If that doesn't say GOAT, I'm not sure what does...

Give the man a break.  He just made History, and he’s tired.

All that pressure off his back……He needs some quality ME time.

Bucks/Nets game:  Brooklyn throws the ball away, behind the half-court line, and the game announcer calls it “over the back”.

A pair of Nike Air Jordan 13′s that Michael Jordan wore during Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals sold at auction for $2.2 million — the most ever paid for a pair of sneakers at auction.

MADNESS!!
