Isn’t the 2016-2017 season over?

Not enough NBA support on TRF to merit another thread. Just roll with it.

OK.

Durant played great in the Finals. :)

Pretty sure we can still talk about 2018-19 in here, though.

Got to love these first round series. Two game 5, one a 36 pt blowout the other a 29 pt game at the half.

4-0, 4-1, 4-1,4-1. And Houston is up 3-1 on the Jazz.

Second round should be much better!

Yep. There aren't sixteen really good teams, just like there aren't 68 really good teams in the NCAA tournament. If each round of the NCAA was best of three, March Madness would be a lot less interesting.

Now extend it to seven games. In 2016, the worst team in baseball had better odds of winning a seven game series against the best than the Cavs did of beating the Warriors.

Fewer opportunties to score makes upsets more possible, no?

That's probably a lot of it. In basketball, fewer players have impact on the game's outcome and the player who probably has the greatest influence on a baseball team's game, the starting pitcher, plays once every five games.

And if you had to face Bryce Harper every inning...

Hey, there was a single digit game in a series that went five!

Meanwhile, nothing going on in the NHL first round. Except a double OT game seven involving the defending champs.

NBA Action, it's fantastic!

With games that exciting, the NHL should consider televising them. Edited by goose

Steve Kerr on Golden State's game 5 loss at home to the Clippers:

"It's a seven-game series and you've got to play, and defend with some urgency. We gave up 129 points on our home floor. We weren't right from the very beginning."

"Everything we did in LA, we didn't do tonight. We seemed to take it for granted that we were going to be okay."

Do we have a series?!?

Durant had 38 in the first half yesterday, a second all-time NBA effort for one half. He finished with 50 even, as the Warriors advance to face the Houston Rockets.

Down the stretch, refs choose not to call denying the landing spot a foul? M'kay.

Per the rule book: "Defenders may not move into the landing area of an airborne shooter. On this play, the defender continues moving forward and he walks under the shooter, affecting his ability to safely return to the floor. This is a defensive foul as the airborne shooter must be allowed to return to the floor safely."

GS wins.
