Golden State gets blasted by Memphis in game five, losing by 40 after being down by as much as 55pts.  Both camps staying classy by trading insults via the Grizzlies' crowd chant of 'whoop that trick', a euphemism for a 'beat down' that comes from what a pimp does to corral an uppity prostitute.

Beatdown, indeed. Flipped channels to check on that gane during Caps v Cats, said "da fuq?" when I saw the score. Also referred to as a hoedown-and I don't mean a country one.

So, how about Mr. James Harden? He looked pretty good in his debut!

It's impossible to look good with a beard that looks like 1960's pubic hair.

Jeez, no repeat for Milwaukee, Boston hammering the Bucks 109 -81.

Miami defense looked strong last night, especially during the 3rd quarter beat down the Heat laid on the Celtics.  Will Boston bounce back?

Draymond is a man possessed so far vs Dallas.  If Golden State wins, he will be why.

Splash Bros are 1 for 10 so far

Wiggins also had a great first half for GS, though I can't hear his name without thinking of the Carol Burnett Show.

Dallas comes back to make a statement in game two, putting up a 19 point lead on Golden State, and then finding themselves down 7 pts after allowing a 27 point turnaround.

The statement?  This thing is over.

Golden State's Wiggins just posterized Doncic, putting the Warriors up yen with six minutes to go.  Warm up the bus.

Oh, it's a Dallas home game?

They did not win.  7/45 from 3pt range.

I'll admit I'm not paying much attention to the NBA playoffs, and certainly not the statistical analysis, but at what point during 7/45 does someone (coach? team leader?) say "Hey, fellas, you know what? Our three point game is not working tonight; maybe we should try driving the ball?"

Or -- given that it's the modern NBA -- does Jimmy Butler turn to his teammates and say "Keep launching! We'll regress to the mean soon, surely!"?

The Heat are beat up.  Scrubs aren't making up for Butler, Lowry, and Herro out or half functional.

Friday in The Garden is going to be brutal.  South Florida sports scene will go to sleep until September and the Canes get back to playing.

Having dropped game 5 at home and facing elimination, Jimmy Butler is going off for the Heat.  Through three quarters he's got 30 pts and a nine-point lead.  Can he hold off the Celtics for one more quarter...?

Butler now has 40pts, but the Celtics have five guys in double figures.  With 5:00 to go, Miami's lead is three...

So far from the free-throw line the teams have combined to shoot 42/43.  Score is tied at 99-99.  This is a great game!

Jimmy Butler, derided for laying and egg at home in game 5 - scoring only 13 points - exerts his will on the Celtics in the Garden and puts up 47 to carry the Heat to a game 6 win.  Miami goes home now, where they can close out the series!

A quarter in the Celtics have built a 15pt lead from solid defense generating easy transition buckets.

And they are all over Butler tonight

Butler came about 2 inches away from sending them home.  They need to find a way to show up late in the 4th quarter or they're going to get killed by Golden State.

Curry comes out hot and sinks six first quarter 3s to lift the Warriors to an early lead, but lockdown second quarter defense brings the Celtics back to gain a two point lead by the break at the half.  Great game so far.  56-54 Boston

Refs letting them play, which benefits Boston.

Golden State taking the lead after the break by dominating the Q3 boards.  Wiggins with some clutch points.

And again the Celtics battle back and build an 11pt lead with two minutes left.

Great defense, clutch shooting, and refs looking the other way.   That could be a recipe for a Boston title

Boston has mastered the use of their lower bodies to foul the shooter from behind down low while selling a no contact play up high.  Pretty clever.
