I got mine from Best Buy in Highland Indiana this morning! Bluray with the flashlight( odd souviner)!

Is Hedgwich Records still in business?

Hegewisch Records. Oh my oh my. Does that bring me back.

Hegewisch Records was a great local record store, but it was about as far off the established grid as you could find. Located on Torrence Avenue in Calumet City IL, right on the Indiana border, in a neighborhood that always seemed vaguely dangerous, Hegewisch (actually pronounced "Heg-Wish," but to me and my friends, who were in utter awe of the store, "Heg-a-wish") was a music fan's best friend. They had new releases (yes, on vinyl, back at a time when the choices were either vinyl or the more obscure 8 track, with cassettes being a very distant third), but more importantly, they had a very impressive selection of "imports" (i.e., boots) on vinyl. And at great prices. Going to Hegewisch was a trip to Mecca for us, a seemingly long drive through unfamiliar territory, but the reward was so damn sweet. The marginally dangerous aura of the place, honestly, was a part of the draw. I remember going there once with my Christmas cash, and coming away with a Saxon "import," a UFO "import," a Riot album that I'd never seen anywhere else (("Fire Down Under" on the cover, but "Fire Down Below" on the spine), with Swords and Tequila being the hit, but Altar of the King being the best song on the album), and a Baron Rojo album (Metalmorphosis) that remained a conversation piece among my friends for many months. Wow, what great memories.

A few years later, a trip to Heg-a-wish revealed a greatly expanded head shop, with a correspondingly large reduction in vinyl. As I had no use for smoking materials, I couldn't help but be disappointed. "Still, we saw the magic, was fading every year."

Ultimately, the possibly dangerous neighborhood became too much, and the main Hegewisch shop relocated to relatively tame Richton Park. Shortly thereafter, the owner was shot in his home, as I recall, and the stored closed. A sad end to a great childhood memory. Thanks, laughedatbytime, for a great reminiscence.

Oh yes. my favorites were the 5ft posters and the KISS shirts with the distinct letter design print on the backs. also dont forget Joe. sitting with the 44 mag by the front door! ahhh the good ol days!

Through the CD 2x so far. Sounds good, really good. (I ripped it to HQ mp3's and it still sounds fantastic... no complaints at all)

Can't wait to fire up the Blu Ray tomorrow.

I think that the Losing It bonus is from LA. I was at both NY/NJ shows where Jamie Lannister played, and remember Geddy's intros. It's not those shows. The only other time Dinklage played was at LA, I believe.

What were you smoking? I was at the Newark and New York shows as well, and Jonathan Dinklage played 'Losing It' both nights. Now that I really think of it, I saw that song twice out of the 5 times it was played on this tour. Could have been 3, if I went to the Friday show in Toronto instead of Wednesday.

You do know who Jonathan Dinklage's younger brother is, don't you?

Jamie Lannister is a joke in my post.

Oh...I see. I know Peter is his brother. I can only assume Jamie Lannister is his character name in Game of Thrones.

Peter is Tyrion Lannister in GOT.

Some other guy plays Jamie Lannister (Tyrion's Brother).

Jonathan Dinklage has nothing to do with GOT... but being the GOT and Rush geek that I am I thought I'd combine universes there.....

I bought it yesterday. It sounds great. But don't go by me. I think all the live albums sound good until I read other people's negative comments, than I can't NOT hear the flaws.

Are you talking about the CD or the DVD? Just curious as I value your opinion...

I don't how good it is or isn't. Bought the Blu Ray and 2 minutes into the first track, the screen froze on my ps3 and a window popped up saying something about a corrupt file. Ps3 wasnt able to play any dvd or blu ray after that, until i did a complete reboot of the ps3. Tried the blu ray again, but same problem. I'm returning the blu ray and will buy the dvd instead..hope that solves the problem.

Several people have said they've had problems with the Blu Ray on a PS3

Strange. I played the BluRay on my PS3 and it played straight through flawlessly.

I picked up the BRD CD set yesterday morning. I did not get the oppritunity to watch it until late last night but I enjoyed the CD's in my work truck during the day. I was very impressed with the mix and overall sounds. Between the wheels guitar sound is not as hot and crunchy as the S&A show, but I guess you can't win them all.

I didn't get to watch the whole thing yet, but so far I am very impressed with the mix in DTS HD, the video, the choice of camera angels. STill a little too much from the crowd shots for my liking but when you watch Xanadu how can you complain. I will say this is the best Rush Blu Ray yet and I will enjoy it for years to come.

I haven't noticed any problems with my blu-ray. I watched it last night. Vocals are definitely the low point but nothing is anywhere as bad as the CA tour release. After a while I stopped noticing it. The energy more than makes up for it. After being to a few shows I wish they'd shown the lighting a bit more since it was so spectacular but overall it was very well done. Edited by EagleMoon

Blue Rays not playing on the PS3 is part of a plan by Sony to get people to buy a PS4 since the PS3 is pretty much done at the end of this year.

Or maybe not, what do I know

Welcome back Narp.

CD. I don't buy DVDs to be honest. I'd never sit down and watch them.

Thanks friend. Good to be back. I have spread the word that the old man wants R40 for Christmas. I can wait that long and I will know every nook and cranny of the thing by the time I get it from being around here. I have requested the CD and Blu Ray as I would prefer to watch it to be honest. I also need something to play the Blu Ray on but I may have to get that myself. I am a bit behind the times when it comes to tech. I haven't even owned a gaming system since Atari  .... :) Edited by Narps

I went into Best Buy to see if they had put it on the shelf early but no such luck.

Did they say they would have it tomorrow?

they have it now. You probably already know

No. I didn't call and they never answered my email.

Maybe I'll call later. I don't think anyone out here is beating down their doors to buy it. I may be the only Rush fan in the area.

There will probably be a Rush shirt in the offing for Christmas as well. Seems to be a tradition in my senior years since my kids became adults. You can never go wrong with the old man opening a package with Rush gear in it... :dweez:

As long as it's not anything from R40. Some pretty poorly designed t-shirts for that tour.

The Farewell to Kings shirt was nice in the front, but he blue in the back wasn't very aesthetically pleasing

I like the R40 Shirts. They're great

Hey I just picked mine up at Best Buy, and found out that I made the packaging! The inside photo was taken at LA, and you can see me (or, at least, my orange baseball cap) next to my friend Christine (blue shirt) in the lower right hand side of the picture. Nice of them to personalize my R40 experience. What a souvenir!

Cool stuff. I found myself in one semi-closeup during 2112 and a number of wide crowd shots, so I'm extremely happy about that too. Feels great to make it into a release for one of your favorite bands :)

 I haven't seen the dvd yet - still eagerly awaiting the European release - but I've been told I'm also in there  :cheerleader:

cool for you both! :sundog:

For the first time in 30 years, I've decided not to get a Rush item on release day. All so the kiddies could get Daddy something for Christmas.

I thought about that, but will probably just get socks,..

That's all I get anymore. I used to get undies too before I gave them up years ago... ;)

Ugh Narps, bells longer than the rope? No photos, please.

ewwww :scared:

Grey you're not right! (Said lovingly )
