Subdivisions R40

The mix sounds wonderful. I kinda miss the solid snare sound Neil had in the S&A tour, but this one sounds fine too. I wish the bass guitar was louder though...

The video looks good, better than the CA Subdivisions except for one thing: audience shots (where you see the band, filmed within heads of fans). There are too many of these, and the worst part is that they don't use tripods to film any of these. The result is dizzy shots of the band from far away, interrupted by heads of fans which block our view of the band. It looks unprofessional and makes me feel like I'm watching a documentary film, not a Rush live concert film. I guess the director's purpose is to makes us feel like we're standing in the concert by filming lots of the shots from the audience, but it can never reproduce the feeling of actually being there. I wish the editing was more like on the S&A Live; Really solid and professional.

However, the band's performance is brilliant.

WOW! Talk about a perfect performance. Still hard to imagine a band that is still THIS good live... retiring from the road. At least they (and we) can always say that Rush went on top... not lost in the mix of casino / festival circuits, or package tours, like some bands that were once great.

Why do people think that the reason why bands are restricted to touring on the casino/package tour circuit is their own fault. It's not and more often then not, it's because of factors completley out of their control. Def Leppard and Styx are such bands and they both sound kick ass live. It's the fault of people for not liking them like they did in their prime, therefore their fanbase shrinks. Rush and AC/DC are special cases because their fanbases are just that large.

Who is playing the bass notes during the keyboard solo? Is that pre-recorded?

I see Lifeson standing near the pedal board, but I can't tell if he's doing anything.

I still can't get enough of this mix. Stuff hasn't sounded this excellent since R30 or Different Stages.

Yes, just judging by the audio mix itself...these clips sound so promising.

It's funny you mention that because, for whatever reason, I noticed the same thing yesterday when I was watching/listening.

This is still an easy staple for Geddy to sing. Sounds about as good as the CA version too. Both are very solid

Cranking this loud in my empty cigar lounge. Sounds real good.

Sound quality is pretty good. But is the actual DVD/Blu-ray gonna live up to it? The CA DVD sounded like shit!

I agree, WAY too Alex heavy and Neil and Geddy light.
