rocket ignites Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Two things, the audio sounds good, and geddy seems to have been tinkered with vocally, which is alright by me cause i hate a struggling live vocals, Like they fixed his vocals in some spots to make him sound not too bad. Hope this is the case with all. I know people want it (as is). but sometimes it can be embarrassing.. Second. iam sure the release date will be changed a few times before it comes out..I don't think so, there was a massive improvement in vocals this tour. That there was, and there's no reason to tinker. I remember the periscope thread from that second Toronto night. If you watch a YouTube video of Roll the Bones from the second night it matches up to the single vocal-wise. I wonder why they didn't tonker with the CA Live vocals which were cringe-inducing... I was going to say that but, well, you know..... If they didn't tinker with the vocals on the CA Live, they won't touch the vocals on this one.I watched CA Live about a month ago...thought Geddy's vocal were not too bad overall. It's no Time Machine tour. You can't say Middletown Dreams Live vocals from CA are better than any song from Time Machine. No, I was thinking of only the main concert. Middletown Dreams and The Pass from whatever night they were recorded are quite bad.
PolarizeMe Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I wonder why they didn't tonker with the CA Live vocals which were cringe-inducing...I have a simple answer for that. Cause they didn't overdub the show whatsoever. In fact, Ged repeated said in interviews regarding the release that they didn't overdub it citing that if there was a serious trainwreck (like in Where's My Thing? based on a fan-shot video) in the main concert footage they used the other night in its place. I believe he said they had no time to overdub it cause they were also busy with the 2013 leg of the tour as well as the Vapor Trail Remix.
TFEman Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 The guys uploaded Roll The Bones from the R40 DVD on their YouTube channel! It looks AMAZING! Can't Wait https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZmK4PKrJ60
mrfriendly Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Saw this tour live, but on video looks great and can get a better look at how great the stage and lights are from different angles which you don't necessarily get a sense of when you are watching from one spot live. 1

ALso doesnt look like fast cut away shots. The video editor must of took his ADHD meds this time around. LOL 1
Phantom Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Both the video and the audio quality is the best I've seen/heard (so far) from Rush... (imo) 1
TFEman Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I really hope they just have a far shot of the laser lights during some songs, because it's so cool to see that and they always cut it out of most of the other DVDs 1
mrfriendly Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Sucks that clockwork or camera eye aren't represented on the live format, would have been great. Was their a botch on clockwork angels the first toronto show? Surprised they wouldn't put that on. Surprised by the lack of extras but considering it is being released so soon after the tour is over I guess they didn't have time to put together a full on extensive package of material? Quality certainly looks better than the last live release.

The creamsicle orange.. all the colors, all the patterns- just amazing work. As far as the light presentation, speaking as a 30+ year 25+ show live tour veteran, R40 Live's light show and overall presentation is right up there at the top as an all time favorite. Long live Herns!! 1

Catch The Mystery Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I guessed most of you would have seen that one by now but you never know ;) The Philly ones are great. Thanks! Because I was standing close to the stage during my R40 shows I missed a lot of the effects of the lasershow. Of course I saw it happen from my POV but it's best viewed from across the floor.

Terrible view for the lasers except for YYZ, but I loved just being there. 1

rugen Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I am surprised that they released this song, the most exciting song of the evening, it spoiled things a bit.... :boo hiss:

rocket ignites Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Yes! Great stuff! This get me a bit more amped to buy this over a Tom Sawyer clip...

TFEman Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 At this rate, the whole DVD will be on YouTube by the release date. If anything else goes up, I'm predicting either How It Is (Because they played it for the first time this tour, but it's not entirely worth buying the DVD for) or Cygnus X-1 (Probably the short part after the drum solo to show off the light show). I picked these because everyone wants to see Losing It and 2112 and Xanadu and all that will probably never be released before the DVD because then no one would need to buy the DVD.
