I love Rush's music, but the high and mighty Mr. Peart is rock and roll's biggest hypocrite. He is guilty, to a lesser degree than KISS, of the same actions of marketing. No big deal really, it is a business and there's nothing wrong with that...as I said before, at least KISS is more honest about. He also goes to great lengths to let everyone know how private and shy he is while writing a blog and books that delve deeply into his personal life. He also loves to point out the hypocrisy of "religious" people. While I agree that many, many, many bad things have been done in the name of God, I believe that there are countless good things that true people of faith do every single day in that same name. It doesn't reach the press, so it is not regurgitated through Mr. Peart's pen. Just like he mentions religion all the time in his lyrics but professes to not believe in any of them.
