Lorraine
You know what i like about it? it's not something you have to tense yourself up to wait for. It's very leisurely, and you can't miss being accurate! :)It's a great moment...difficult not to join in Looks like you and I are the only two so far who do it all the time. I just took the liberty of raising my Rush fandom status.
GeddysMullet
Upon further reflection, I've identified the difference between Ding and Ting as a crispness in the initial sound. At least to my ears

Blue J
I know of a machine that goes PING! It costs more than three quarters of a million pounds! Aren't you lucky? :)
Lorraine
Upon further reflection, I've identified the difference between Ding and Ting as a crispness in the initial sound. At least to my ears You are right. Ding is too heavy a word to describe it. So, for the last time, I edited my poll and put back my Ping, but included Ting and Ding. Now there is something for everyone. I hope. :) And I'm glad that I set it up so we know who the folks are by name who actually voted "What are you talking about?" EagleMoon
It should be "Who does the ping/ding/ting/whatever you call it".
Lorraine
For some reason I always put a silly look on my face when I do it too because it's such a silly moment but I can't hep myself from doing it every time I listen to the song. I think I got distracted once and missed it. I felt very bad.

I don't feel really bad if I miss the ping...there are other percussion moments on that album that I feel that way about, if I miss them.

Mr. JD
I think it's more of a ding. At least that's what I've always called it.
Lorraine
Folks, that was Mr. JD from the Cincinnati area where Rush got their big break. He says he always called it a ding. Anyone have a response to that?

Aren't you lucky? :) You see, we lease this machine back from the company we sold it to, and that way it comes under the monthly current budget and not the capital account!

I knew you went to the Atlanta R40 show, and I didn't think it was a long haul to get there, for you. (It'd be about eight hours each way, for me). Blue J
Very sad that there weren't more votes in this very important poll. I was surprised at that, too. I wouldn't think that voter apathy would run so rampant even among Rush fans, too, but... Hemispheres would certainly not be the same without the ping/ting/ding.
