  1. 1. Do you do the "Ping!!"? Or "Ting!!"? Or "Ding!!"?

You know what i like about it? it's not something you have to tense yourself up to wait for. It's very leisurely, and you can't miss being accurate! :)

It's a great moment...difficult not to join in

Looks like you and I are the only two so far who do it all the time.

I just took the liberty of raising my Rush fandom status.

Besides, it's beautiful and perfect. One of music's very finest moments!

:o

What kind of Rush fans are you that you don't know what I'm referring to???

I knew, right away!

(I just got here; gimme a break. Had to have some dinner, after all)...

Upon further reflection, I've identified the difference between Ding and Ting as a crispness in the initial sound. At least to my ears

You are right. Ding is too heavy a word to describe it.

So, for the last time, I edited my poll and put back my Ping, but included Ting and Ding.

Now there is something for everyone.

I hope. :)

And I'm glad that I set it up so we know who the folks are by name who actually voted "What are you talking about?"

For some reason I always put a silly look on my face when I do it too because it's such a silly moment but I can't hep myself from doing it every time I listen to the song.

I think I got distracted once and missed it. I felt very bad.

Alex makes a lot of those faces, if you watch him enough. You probably know the ones I mean.

I don't feel really bad if I miss the ping...there are other percussion moments on that album that I feel that way about, if I miss them.

I do the ding if I'm in the mood.

When I'm in the mood I schwing.

Were you in the mood about a half hour before you posted that?

Oh, wait, you're on Pacific time.

Over here, it was a quarter to eight...that's what I was referring to.

I know of a machine that goes PING!

:gumby: :gumby: :gumby:

It costs more than three quarters of a million pounds!

Aren't you lucky? :)

You see, we lease this machine back from the company we sold it to, and that way it comes under the monthly current budget and not the capital account!

:blah: Folks, that was Mr. JD from the Cincinnati area where Rush got their big break. He says he always called it a ding. Anyone have a response to that?

I'd like to phrase my response to that in the form of a question, Alex...

JD, you live in the Cincinnati area?? I'm in Dayton.

I drive about halfway to Cinci for work every day.

(Meanwhile, the 'always' voters have taken a slight lead over the ding/ting/ping-slacking competition)...

Very kind and thoughtful of you not to mention the two shame of shames who voted "What are you talking about?" ;) ;)

May they see the light, in due time...

(And when they do, when that light comes on...may it be accompanied by the sound of "ping!").

Cleveland, not Cincinatti. Ding is just my opinion. My buddies always called it a ding too. But we did a lot of good drugs back then.

No. I think Lorraine meant Cleveland. I'm from the Akron area but moved to Georgia almost 30 years ago.

All right, that makes sense. I knew you went to the Atlanta R40 show, and I didn't think it was a long haul to get there, for you. (It'd be about eight hours each way, for me).

Very sad that there weren't more votes in this very important poll.

I was surprised at that, too. I wouldn't think that voter apathy would run so rampant even among Rush fans, too, but...

Hemispheres would certainly not be the same without the ping/ting/ding.
