AnEggplant
I was just curious about this. Unfortunately I'm not old enough to have been alive when it first came out. Anyway, I think if anyone here bought the record at its release they should get some sort of award or something.

Narps
Not I. The Debut was about 2 when I became a fan. They were putting them out pretty quickly back in the day. 2112 was out too right before I became a fan in 76'...

Blue J
I wonder if Mr. JD can weigh in on this question...I saw in another thread yesterday that he saw Rush at the Agora in Cleveland, in 1974...could be reasonable to assume that he owned the album back then. But I don't know.
Lorraine
The first Rush song I ever heard on the radio in the seventies was Fly By Night.

Jaminbenb
The first "new" release I bought was All the World's a Stage...and that was out for maybe about a month before I got it....
AnEggplant
Interesting. I figured it was very unlikely, but it would be pretty incredible nonetheless.
blueschica
The first Rush song I ever heard on the radio in the seventies was Fly By Night. I'm with Lorraine, I was hanging out at National Record Mart in Pittsburgh by then and I'm old enough, but was not aware until Fly By Night. Brain did not think in terms of picking up previous releases then! :)
hcm
no I didn't get on board until Fly By Night, I was 10...If my parents had listened to it I might not be a Rush fan now...lol. Edited August 6, 2015 by hcm
Pound of Obscure
You'd have to be pretty old. :P :outtahere:I was 6. Silly songs like My Ding-a-ling and On Top of Spaghetti were more to my liking at the time.

Blue J
I was just short of one year old in March of '74, so it's a no, over here. I remember totally jamming to it when I was eight or nine, though.

Rod in Toronto
First Rush album I bought when released was Presto, and I traded it back then. Rush only came back into my life when T4E came out, so what do I know!?!?

EagleMoon
I hadn't heard of them yet. In 1974 I was listening to The Who, Pink Floyd, Queen and Elton John.
Relayer2112
I was 9 at the time and pretty square. If it had nothing to do with "Land of the Lost", I wasn't interested.
