DirkPrattLerxst Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Never listened to it fully before because I thought it was a bunch of noisy drug-fueled metal. I was so wrong! It's simply a masterwork and what really stands out to me is how Geddy sings so emotionally in the song and it really brings out the story. Those three guys can produce one hell of a sound ;) 11
Xanadu Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I really like it. It's a story-telling roller coaster ride. With some great melodies and guitar work. A fine piece of 20-minute work by those young men. :) 2
Merely Space Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I think it's a little rough, but there are some great moments. It's fun watching them learn to do what they end up doing so incredibly well later on. 1
Bigbobby10 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Why it is hated so much is beyond me. Panacea is a work of beauty, Geddy's voice is super emotional in it. It might not be as good as 2112, but it is definitely close. 3
Digital Dad Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 It s60% succesful. Even Hemi is so only 75% sucessful. Only 2112 is fully realized and a impactful.

Lucas Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) noisy drug-fueled metal. That's why I love it ... and the closest thing to a drug I've ever taken is Tate's double chocolate cookies . . Edited August 4, 2015 by Lucas
That One Guy Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 It took me five years of being a fan to hear it for the first time. And I've still not heard Rush or Fly By Night in their entirety.
TexMike Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I like the majority of it, but I have to be in the mood to listen all the way through. It gets a little tedious by the end. LOVE when those first power chords kick in and it's a fine warmup for 2112. I think Necromancer is the real underrated gem on CoS though.
RUSHHEAD666 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 An anagram for "Lamenth" is LAME! What a horrible song. It's too long and actually the production sucks. I prefer anything on "Vapor Trails" over this tripe.
RUSHHEAD666 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 God Bless you Rush Rookies. There is hope. Then again perhaps not....... 2
Lucas Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Stay! Go! Work! No! Learn! Live! Earn! Give! Stay or fight ? What's right ? Listen! 5

willowroolz Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 It's an underrated gem, IMO. The solo in 'No-one at the Bridge' is one of my favourites of all of Lerxst's solos. I've shouted out for it at every Rush show I've been to and the bastards never played it :D 2

Stan Getz Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 It took me five years of being a fan to hear it for the first time. And I've still not heard Rush or Fly By Night in their entirety. You got to spend some time with Fly By Night. Anthem and ByTor and the Snow dog are awesome!
Del_Duio Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 It's a great song, but out of the three huge epics it's clearly in last place with me.
Segue Myles Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 My pick of the sidelong epics, and one of the best Rush songs full stop! What it lacks for in polish it makes up for with emotion and spontaneity. 1
Narps Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Learn something new every day. Something tells me you haven't given the Debut much of a shot in the past either. Maybe even Fly By Night... :codger:

MeanMeanPride Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Good tune! I always though the Bacchus Plateau part could have been its own song, and would have made a great single. 1

The guitar transports me to another place, it's just magnificent. The rest is great as well.

The change and development is striking and yet it's still all good to great at least in my opinion... 4
