I wonder if the Souls in the Book are the same Souls that Judas Priest redeemed last year

I thought those two albums had more filler than the ones' before them. Piece of Mind is the only 80's record that didn't do much for me. The others are phenomenal and are all in the top 5.

The only songs on POM that are filler would be Quest For Fire and Sun And Steel. Everything else on it is great. Powerslave is king of fillers when it comes to their 80s albums with Bruce. The first two and last two songs are as good as anything Maiden has ever done. Everything else on that album is average sounding metal songs that any metal band back in 1984 could have done.

Flash Of The Blade is the best among the PS filler.

10. Fear Of The Dark

11. No Prayer For The Dying

The first 6 are essential Maiden albums. Somewhere In Time has Wasted Years, Alexander The Great, CSiT, it's perfection from start to finish. Brave New World is the triumphant return + Janick Gers and this album delivers much the same perfection, except they should've never recorded The Thin Line Between Love And Hate. AMOLAD is full of some of the best prog-Maiden. Powerslave and Beast are classics, though Beast has a bit of filler on it.

PoM's good but it's never my first choice...never liked Die With Your Boots On. The rest of the tracks are fine but aren't their absolute best. Final Frontier was a good album but a lot of the songs in the second half started getting too long without the necessary substance to back up the length. Dance Of Death's two epics, the title track and Paschendale, are essential Maiden for sure and it has some other good tracks like Rainmaker, but it's sprinkled with a lot of filler.

Fear Of The Dark is an album of pure filler that sounded like No Prayer material with only a couple good tracks, the title track and Afraid To Shoot Strangers.

No Prayer didn't grab me at all. When Adrian Smith left the band it was all downhill from there until they wrote Brave New World.
