"black khakis"

When did "khaki" the most popular color for "chinos" - a style of pants - become the name of the pants themselves? Just curious.

Saying "black kahkis" is like saying "black tan things".

Yeah, I've sewn for ages. Khaki is a color. The fabric is twill, usually cotton or a cotton blend.

Let's fox this. You and me, sister! #khakikrusaders

SOCN must be in a tizzy.

"Neil Peart the Democrat, the only party one could vote for"

File under things I thought I'd never see In a zillion years.

Wow, that can't be real. Can it?

It is, and the Internet has noticed. I'll leave out the instrument of evil part. He cites Africa as huge influence...

"For a person of my sensibility, you're only left with the Democratic party," says Peart

I wonder if the person who put the article together likes Rush? I'll read it again, but for me this RS article was a real turn-off to Rush.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a turn off for me, but I don't think they were portrayed as favorably as say they were in the doc. I do recall reading somewhere in the article that he was a big fan. I just think he tried to put some shocking stuff in there to create a buzz. Neil's political views and Alex's pot smoking were slightly surprising to me. I am imagine they did a lot of talking and some stuff that they did not intend to say or didn't think would get printed got printed - the Kiss bit about branding or whatever it was and then the whole Joe Perry thing was kind of awkward. I described the article to a friend as full of bombshells.

He made Alex sound like a drug freak desperate for his next joint leaning out the hotel window in New Orleans.

I won't comment on Neil.

Geddy sounded as if he was mocking fans. His remark about the man in the second row during Xanadu annoyed me. I wasn't there to hear how he said it, so I don't know for sure his intent. I don't know what it's like to be a member of a long-time famous band, but I would think that it would make me happy that my music, after forty years, meant so much to fans that it could still get a reaction like that from someone.

That's interesting. I didn't really take any of the article badly at all. It just made them seem like normal guys to me.

They didn't come off badly to me at all and no mockery whatsoever.

Methinks you might be a bit sensitive.

I read it as Geddy being excited that the fan was excited for Xanadu, but maybe i got it wrong. There was a lot of information about Alex's drug use but that has been mentioned in the past and the writer did mention all his medical problems. I have to go back and reread what Neil was saying; I'm not sure I was understanding it all at the first reading, the man is deep! I already didn't care for Rand Paul for a few reasons but I would like to understand Neil's points and I'm not sure I did??!! Glad I wasn't trying to read the article in the checkout line, which I have been known to do!

If this behavior was common for him, I might think the same thing but he has always spoken well of fans so I see no reason for him to be disrespectful.

The Neil political stuff was pretty surprising. The lyrics of Armor & Sword kinda told me that he wasn't the biggest G W Bush fan but that he's changed his tune on the economic libertarianism stuff was news to me considering he's the guy who said in 1978:

The Rand philosophy came to the group through 25-year-old Neil Peart, who writes most of the band's lyrics and who read The Fountainhead when he was growing up in St.Catharines, Ontario, and decided "For me it was a confirmation of all the things I'd felt as a teen-ager. I had thought I was a socialist like everyone else seemed to - you know, why should anyone have more than anyone else? - but now I think socialism is entirely wrong by virtue of man himself. It cannot work. It is simply impossible to say all men are brothers or that all men are created equal - they are not. Your basic responsibility is to yourself."

On the other hand, the fact that Alex likes to blaze was hardly surprising - guy has been on the Trailer Park Boys more than a couple of times (a show whose whole theme is about growing & smoking the devil's lettuce) and he always came across to me as a guy who enjoys a nice bowl of green while practicing guitar. A classic "hesher" from the 70s if you will.

Anyway, I know I'd smoke the guy out if I ever got the chance - :smoke:
