condemned2bfree Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 http://classicrock.teamrock.com/features/2015-06-11/the-50-greatest-rush-songs-ever Apologies if this has been done already. 1
Merely Space Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Very interesting. I agree with number one, but I'm suprised. I thought I was the only one who felt that way.
Narps Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Nice list. Very little newer stuff on it and #1 is certainly correct... 1
ReRushed Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 See! "2112" isn't one song. It's seven songs strung together to tell a story. 2
Maverick Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 (edited) I didn't even know that there were 50 great Rush songs. Edited June 11, 2015 by Dr. Sheldon Cooper 2
Narps Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Just off the top... great to see Here Again and the title track from AFTK on the list... 1
ReRushed Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I did even know that there were 50 great Rush songs. :tsk:
Narps Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 They haven't even scratched the surface with 50. There are plenty more in my view. Would have been a shorter and easier list to compile a list of the sh*t songs... 1
Narps Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Where is The Fountain Of Lamneth? There is to my pleasant surprise alot of Caress Of Steel on there. It can't all be on there. They picked The Necromancer instead it seems...
Xanadu Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I don't agree with the entire list (of course), but I do agree with #1. :haz: :D
madrushian Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I didn't even know that there were 50 great Rush songs. You must be joking. In regards to the list. It demonstrates how influential Rush has been to Rock fans even when they industry didn't respect the band.
rocket ignites Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Thanks for the link...very interesting read. Dreamline is way too low. :D 1
Turbine Freight Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 In regards to the list. It demonstrates how influential Rush has been to Rock fans even when they industry didn't respect the band. No it doesn't. Classic rock magazine has a limited readership, a handful of whom contributed to the poll.

madrushian Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I am surprised at #50 That is a deep track that has never been performed live to my knowledge or heard in the main stream.. Though it is a favorite of mine.

presto123 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Great to see the Garden almost crack top 20. Probably right were it should be. Haters of that song need your ears checked:) Goosebump city, a great guitar solo and opening bass line, and awesome atmosphere from the keys and strings. The way it builds is masterful. 5

The way it builds is masterful.I think Geddy is proud of the song because it works so well with a pretty traditional structure. They can write songs in a "standard" and "traditional" way. It's a very good song. I have no problem with it ranking so high on any list. I do think "Far Cry" belongs on a list like this. It has a very strong chorus and the lyrics are among Neil's best. IMHO. I also think "Workin' Them Angels" deserves a spot. And Clockwork Angels is well represented. Nice. 2
Entre_Perpetuo Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 2112 is one song. This list is forever invalid in my mind, though I do agree with much of the rest of the list. Especially glad to see so much from AFTK in there, even the title track and the better Cygnus. 1

geezer Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I gave my vote in that poll to La Villa Strangiato, but Xanadu is a welcome #1.I'm a little more doubtful about #3
