Thanks Test4VitalSigns.

According to http://www.darkstar.gs

"RUSH

We're still not sure why these legendary fellows said yes.

Not because Darkstar isn't a perfect match for their music,

but after we made merciless fun of them on a cable show

some of us worked on (Comedy Central/Sci-Fi Channel's

Mystery Science Theater 3000), we thought they might be

steamed at us. Much to the delight of the MST-3K folks, they

instead said yes. We found out later that they even credited

the show in the credits of their "Counterparts" album, and

Alex was said to have even displayed an MST lunchbox atop

his amp that tour. Even after making jokes about them while

Joel, Trace, Josh and others riffed cheezy movies (once

pointing at an ematiated woman and saying "hey, it's Geddy

Lee"), and even going so far as to mock their entire home

country in Tom Servo's song about Canada. But it was all in

fun, and we never stooped lower than that or really got

"personal"...for example, telling everybody that Neil's middle

name is Ellwood. Ooooops.

For over 30 years, these Canadian Rock Legends have

continued to produce cutting-edge progressive music, and

have toured nearly non-stop, culminating in a spectacular

live in Rio concert and an incredible DVD of that concert.

There are at least 20 songs from the RUSH reportoi in

Darkstar, spanning music from their earliest albums from

the 70's to some of their newest on Vapor Trails.

Talks are ongoing with ANTHEM Records, Inc. in Toronto

about cross marketing opportunities, including possibly

utilizing some of Darkstar's scenes in the band's live visual

presentation in concert.

Could you imagine Rush using scenes from

a sci-fi video game on tour?

Just showed my son the trailer and he wants to get it, but there is no mention that I could find about what platform it will be in. Will it be for the PC or gaming systems. He has an XBox.

It doesn't say anywhere on the site Sue, but I'm guessing initally it will be a PC game...I'll try find more info and let u know...

I can imagine it now...

The Summer of 2006

We are all eagerly awaiting Rush

to hit the stage

All of a sudden, the intro movie starts

on the big screen

We all watch Captain John O'Neil

awakening from cryogenic sleep

Then Rush opens the show with

The Camera Eye

Don't say that. I plan to have front row position, damned near where Alex is flinging sweat, and I don't want to pass out from the excitement too early. Hold off on The Camera Eye until I've adjusted myself to the experience. Tom Sawyer will do fine. I can get my groove on and prepare myself.

The graphics of this game would be really nice to integrate into the live show for them.... unsure.gif This could be very, very cool.

Thanks, Test. But, my hubby mentioned that it says GS on the website, insinuating that it's a Gaming System platform. confused13.gif

I LOVE MST3k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know for a fact that Mike Nelson (head writer) the host of mst3k is a huge Rush fan. I have to say I was watching Mst3k before I got into Rush and I never got the jokes.... The movie "Final Sacrifice" was the Canadian movie they bashed, but in one of the segments where Tom Servo is doing the Canada Mike Defends Canada saying "They did give us Rush!!"

Kinda cool, I checked the Counterparts CD and it was there!!! I am a huge nerd now!

This is really cool. I can't wait to check out the game. It would be wild to see the visuals used live on stage.

If Rush plays The Camera Eye on tour,

I could see it being integrated with

the visuals from Darkstar.

I just can't see how the band would have

a sudden change of interest in playing that

amazing song.

"The Camera Eye, from our Moving Pictures album,

is almost always at the top of the request list. We've

given it a shot, but we always go, 'Well, I just don't

want to play that song. I'm not thrilled about it.'...You

don't want to disappoint, but you have to be honest."

- Geddy Lee, The Columbus Dispatch, June 2, 2004

"I know that people always request us to play (1981's)

'The Camera Eye,' and every tour we think about that.

But we just don't dig playing that song, and if you don't

dig playing it, you're not gonna play it well. It has nothing

to do with whether it's a good song or not. If you're not

getting off on it, you're not gonna do a good job with

it on a nightly basis." - Geddy Lee, Las Vegas Sun, July 16, 2004

It would be nice to hear live. But if they cannot stand to play it, then so be it. It's not as though that would be the deal-breaker. If they tour again, I don't care if they sing Sesame Street songs. I'll be in the front row. yes.gif

The video game Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 has One Little Victory in it so this is not the first time their music's been in a video game. I'm looking foreward to the game though. I'm a big time gamer and I hope I like it.

As for their playing The Camera Eye in the next show, I hope they do but if they don't want to play it then I don't want to hear it. By Geddy's own admission they probably wouldn't play it as well as it should be. I'd rather not hear it than to hear a bad rendition of it.

If they give in to fan pressure on this issue despite their own convictions to the contrary, they would be compromising which, as we all know, Rush does not do.

"There is no real release date set. It will hopefully be sometime in mid to late 06, but there is still much to do. This project is basically like doing a full length motion picture where every scene is a special effects shot, and then create a fully immersive video game, and then write code to make the two into one unique new product. Then it's time to market it adequately and on and on. It's huge. The RUSH music was made to be used in this way, their songs are cinematic WITHOUT high tech special effects storytelling going on, you can imagine how stunning it would be. Imagine replacing John Williams' music in Star Wars with Tom Sawyer. We've taken what they did with rock music in the cult classic "Heavy Metal" a step further with this fantastic soundtrack from the greatest band ever." - J. Allen Williams, writer/producer, Aug. 19, 2005
