Well, without knowing anything at all and not having seen it yet I'm going to predict it is the giant corn cob; a silo painted to look like a corn cob.

http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/12191

It's in Midland just 20 miles away, it's large, kitschy and represents the area somewhat.

It looks more like the Muffler Man located in Roanoke, VA but it really isn't any closer.

Venue used to be Nissan Pavillion before renamed to Jiffy Lube Live. Could it possibly be related to Nissan??

I can't remember Atlanta . . .

Atlanta: Land of Fried Wonder

Excellent, thank you. Any idea what the symbol is, that red flag thing on the right?

Too funny! Sorry, I didn't check back in after posting. But, yes, as others have pointed out, that is the local treasure and nationally famous, Big Chicken. Just a little wrap up note to that . . .

As you recall, the Snakes & Arrows tour opened in Atlanta, and featured Geddy's backline being the rotisserie chicken machines. There is a great bootleg, audio & video from that show:

It features the big chicken in the artwork, and is probably one of, if not my favorite bootleg artwork of all time.

I agree, he really has a close resemblance to the Roanoke muffler man, what with the pants color the same and the tire hanging from the arm. Roanoke is not very close to Bristow, though, but the article says he originally came from Washington, DC so maybe that is the connection?? The two men have a really similar appearance though!

:bump: Giving this a bump and hoping someone will put up a photo from the Columbus intro video in the next few days!

I don't have a video but I recall it was something about the land of the Doo Dah.

That to me means they saw something advertising the July 4th Doo Dah parade in the neighborhood near the arena.

Wonder if on the DVD, they will include any of these other city "slogans" besides Toronto? Would be a cool bonus clip to step through them all in order, like in a slideshow, to commemorate all the stops on the tour.

What's with the ears of corn?

I could be wrong, but my guess would be because of all of the corn fields around Columbus.

Also there is a field of giant concrete ears of corn in suburban Dublin - http://www.roadsidea....com/story/9527

The Doo Dah reference was great. Local, funny, and saw a sign for the parade as we were coming into arena.

Oh okay, I didn't know about this. I moved away from Columbus in '91.

That field of giant corn ears is hilarious! They do look just like the picture on the video :) 2 of my kids went to college right near there and I never knew about it, shoot! I would have loved to see it!
