If I put a Bigsby on my Les Paul, it would look like this.

It would be a lot easier to do to the Les Paul than to the Telecaster. But it would be gorgeous on both.

Why? A Lester is an archtop and Teles are flat, plus there are Bigsby models for either. Same difference.

I'd have to replace the bridge my Telecaster came with to one that could accommodate the strings coming from the Bigsby, rather than from under the bridge. On the Les Paul, I'm only replacing the tailpiece with the Bigsby. The bridge stays in place.

With the Bigsby Tele model it comes with a bridge. :)

Yes it does. And that means I have to take off my easy bake 6 saddle string through bridge and replace it with the 3 saddle model. The about it is, I would be getting a second kit that would allow me to attach the Bigsby without drilling holes in it. So I'd be buying the B5 Bigbsy with a bridge, and also getting a bridge with the kit. Total waste of money. Maybe I can get a B5 without the bridge, but I don't know.

Sure looks nice when it's done, though. :) This is the same pic that 73 posted, and it has the Vibramate system on it. You can see the tail of the metal plate that rests under the main tremolo piece. It goes down and attaches to the strap post (you actually take the strap post out, slip that piece on, and screw the strap post back down on it. The front end on the piece has two teeth that slide into slots in the Vibramate bridge. That's what provides the stability. Then the Bigsby gets mounted onto that plate with screws, and you don't have to drill holes in your guitar.

Hmm didn't realize the 3 v 6 saddle thing. There's gotta be a way to do it to allow for a 6 saddle bridge. I wouldn't mind one on my Lester but with the flame top on it no way I want to drill into it either. I am intrigued by the non destructive Floyd Rose someone here posted a while back.

Every time I saw Les himself his guitars all had Bigsbys on them. I will post photos tomorrow in honor of Les' 100 birthday. I saw him 4 or 5 times and he played variations of the Recording series that had low impedance pickups and crazy electronics including a "half volume" switch that he talked about that basically cut the output down without changing tone. The one I have pictures of has a nice flame top but I also saw him play a flat brown one (at the Iridium in NYC) as well as a flat white one (House of Blues in LA) both with similar configurations. I have a picture of his pedal board too. Not the greatest because they were taken with a disposable film camera from the 90s. :)

Are you talking about the FXR Rose that replaces the Tune-O-Matic bridge? It says you need to install a couple wood screws but apart from that it's a direct swap.

It just came out over the last 6 months so I'm not finding many reviews for it online. Neat little video here, though.

Floyd Rose has obviously made quite the name for their tremolo products. Stetsbar (http://www.stetsbar.com/) came out with their "bolt on" style tremolo that you can add to a Les Paul without drilling or routing. I believe it's gotten good reviews. The Floyd Rose FXR was intended to compete with that.

In this video, ol Floyd himself shows you how.

The installation of the trem itself doesn't require any drilling or routing, but the locking nut that mounts over the truss rod plate requires the two extra wood screws. Pretty minor.

Yeah but is the locking nut absolutely necessary? That is the only problem I have with the Floyd. I watched his video and checked out the Stetsbar site too. Hmm. I don't need to divebomb or anything, just a little English here and there. :) I like these ideas though.

The Vibramate kits allow you to install a Bigsby without drilling any new holes into your guitar. The Vibramate pieces attach using the already existing holes, plus the strap post. Then the Bigsby screws into the Vibramate platform. It's a brilliant solution. The only negative I can come up with is that if I did this, my Les Paul won't fit into its case anymore, and I'd either have to buy a soft case or a hard case that would accommodate the Bigsby. But that's a pretty happy dilemma.

The FXR pretty much eliminates any real desire for an Axcess LP, at least. Rather than spend ~$3.5k on a guitar, just install the FXR onto any old LP.

I'd like to have the piezo effect, too. You'd still have to do some electronics work and drilling and routing to get the dual 1/4" output jacks and sound blending options. (It'd be cheaper to just split the signal and use a Boss AC-3 pedal, though!)

I have the Boss acoustic simulator and it's pretty weak. A stereo Jack could replace a mono output without routing the jack chamber, but a split cable (Y cable) would be needed to route to separate signal paths.

I really like that R40 medallion that is set in as the back plate over the toggle switch. But, it's still not worth $10,000 to me. However, $5 at Sweetwater for a black back plate and $3.50 on Etsy for a Starman sticker? Now THAT is in my price range! (Spoilered for teh huge.)
