Your least favorite song lyrics Neil have ever written?

Half the World.

Phoned in crap that could have been written for a fourth grade poetry contest and would have finished as an also ran.

Although mathematically incorrrect, as one has to take "half the world" in its figurative sense, what is it specifically that you hate about the song, lyrically speaking? He's sort of right about the riff raff, isn't he?

It feels like he spent about 15 minutes writing it. It's trite and it doesn't contain any real insight that most of us didn't have by the time we're 13.

Neil was in the half of the world wasting the day when he wrote this, not in the half that cared. The only positive thing about the lyrics is that they don't contain the words "hood boy" or "net girl". The worst lyrical effort in an album full of bad ones.

Hmm..let's see which Neil lyrics really rankle me...

Second Nature

Red Tide

Speed Of Love :scared:

Animate

Alien Shore

Virtuality (so dated. So, so dated)

Peaceable Kingdom

Pretty much everything on Snakes aside from Far Cry

The Garden

"Body Electric" for sure. "... clenching plastic fist!"

And I don't like "Faithless" at all.

This will get me in trouble, but I like "Half the World" and I love "Big Wheel."

I like that we all love the same band, and love -- and not -- different songs.

I like those songs too. Don't LOVE them, but like them.

I have always said the lyrics of Second Nature are pretty trite, but the arrangement of the song and the vocal performance set it above some of the others, like half of RtB. I love the song quite frankly despite the somewhat mundane sentiments the song puts across. One of the odd ones for me, but I have a soft spot for HYF so there ya go.

The Maples formed a Union.

And demanded equal rights.

How can I forget,,,,

"Ah yes to yes, to ah to yes."

Or some weird shit like that.

:wtf:

Why the Sun? Why the Sun?

:moose: :sundog: :moose:

There is a lake between sun and moon

Not too many know about

Some go there for their high noon

Some go there for their midnight moon

It is a moment between silence and shout

Maybe you, might as well me

Why the sun, why the sun

Say yes, say yes, ahh say yes to self-esteem

We want to escape because we don't want to fall in

The signs are clear and so is the fear

We do not trust the firmness of the ground

Then say yes, say yes, ahh say yes to self-esteem

There is a fine place between actor and audience

This is the fine line

The fine line of living

This moment experienced

This fine deliverance

Do what you want to do in no ordinary way

Say what you need to say in no ordinary way

And sing what must be sung in no ordinary way

Say yes, ahh please, please say yes to self esteem

Some go there for their high noon

Some go there fo their midnight moon

It is the moment between silent and shout

This is a fine place

Faces face to face

These bonfire eyes

In the lake of the sky

It is our light to land and leave

Never so dark to unravel the weave

Never give up and never say die

Do what you need to do in no ordinary way

Say what you need to say in no ordinary way

And sing what must be sung in no ordinary way

Like a shipwrecked mariner adrift on an unknown sea

Clinging to the wreckage of the lost ship Fantasy

I'm a castaway, stranded in a desolate land

I can see the footprints in the virtual sand

Net boy, net girl

Send your signal 'round the world

Let your fingers walk and talk

And set you free

Net boy, net girl

Send your impulse 'round the world

Put your message in a modem

And throw it in the Cyber Sea

Astronauts in the weightlessness of pixellated space

Exchange graffiti with a disembodied race

I can save the universe in a grain of sand

I can hold the future in my virtual hand

Let's dance tonight

To a virtual song

Press this key

And you can play along

Let's fly tonight

On our virtual wings

Press this key

To see amazing things

Like a pair of vagabonds who wave between two passing trains

Or the glimpse of a woman's smile through a window in the rain

I can smell her perfume

I can taste her lips

I can feel the voltage from her fingertips

Net boy, net girl

Send your heartbeat round the world ow
