Wow. MLB avoided a few bullets..... no one gamers for a division title or a wild card spot.

Congrats to all the fans of all the teams that made it October baseball. Obviously, I am rooting for my Cardinals, but it's going to an emotionally compelling set. Four of the five clubs in the AL are all nice stories for different reasons. The Yankees? Notsomuch. The Cubs getting even the one game opportunity is huge. The Pirates making it back to that level again is equally a pleasant turn of events The Dodgers and Mets? Not nearly as fun, but I will take them over the Giants and Braves any day. And, yes, I know.... oh.... look.... ho hum..... St. Louis is in the post season.... again. But you know, there's a reason Tom Clancy called it *Red* October.... and he wasn't talking about the Ruskies!

Congrats to the Texas Rangers for FINALLY getting the win they needed to clinch the AL West.

This was a crazy year. Just six weeks ago or so, our playoff chances were something in the range of .4%. Not 4 but .4.

Yeah, congrats to the Rangers! That game on Saturday (Angels 11, Rangers 10) might have been one of the best games I've seen this year! :o Holy cow! I thought for sure the Angels were insisting on giving that one away.

The Rangers are going to be tough - they're always tough, especially in Arlington for the Blue Jays - but the Blue Jays are tough at home, so it might work out. I saw a stat the other day that the #1 seed has only won the WS twice in the last 20 years ('11 Red Sox, '05 White Sox). :eh: Glad to be #2 then. :) Of course, there is a lot of baseball between now and then.

I was good to see Tulo back this weekend and I wish that Buerhle had been able to get four more outs (hell, I wish he'd gotten all six outs without the 9 runs, granted most were unearned). It makes you realize just how special 15 seasons of 200+ innings thrown is - it is no small feat.

Go Blue Jays! :cheerleader:

Just out of curiosity, are you guys as superstitious as I am? I have a hat, that I'd swear is jinxed. I wore it yesterday. :smash:

For a Cardinal fan?

No, not really.

19 NL pennants and 11 World Series rings.

But I will give it up for the Big Red Machine. They were something special.

That's pure greatness. My Dad grew up in Cincinatti and was a huge Reds fan. I just started playing little league when the Big Red Machine was tearing up the league. Those were great times.

Batflip.

Controversy ensues.

There was an interesting conversation on local sports-talk radio about celebrations and how they differ from MLB and almost every other sport. The NFL allows celebration and showing of emotion after pivotal plays, why not MLB?

The general feeling was the baseball needs to loosen up and let it's players have fun. If they did, maybe MLB would stop losing ground in popularity to other sports like football, hockey and basketball.
