70's songs that will appear on this tour

Some of these choices may have Donovan ordering Ludens by the case load for Ged! An acoustic low key version of In The End might work for Bubba's break. How about all-instrumental versions of Fountain or Beneath, Between and Behind wrapped around the drum solo somehow?

In The End would be fantastic in that spot! Now I'm all excited for that one

Anthem

Working Man

Xanadu

Cygnus X-1 and/or Book 2 Prelude

Bastille Day

I find it hard to believe they will pull out some deep stuff from the 70's, we will be lucky to get 1 song from Caress of Steel

I would love if Anthem and Bastille Day got played, I think pretty much everyone would. But even with downtuning I don't think Geddy has it in him vocally to pull those two songs off anymore.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Jennifer Juniper is one of my favorites. :)

I think they are going to surprise us and really try to stretch it out, especially after the keyboard heavy CA setlist. I'm anticipating more than just "2112 Overture/Temples" (which is an absolute given when considering their mention that this will be their last major tour on this scale).

I keep thinking they will play "Cinderella Man," because they used to, but haven't in a long time, and the vocal part is in a lower, manageable register. And I feel confident that they will play "La Villa Strangiato." I'm not sure why so many of you are confident about "The Trees." Pretty high vocal part. If Geddy can still sing that then he can sing quite a few 70s tunes.

And of course I too anticipate a medley. And possibly "Return of the Prince" and "In the Mood." Oh, and don't rule out "Lakeside Park" as an option for representing Caress of Steel.

But, then again, I could be wishful thinking on all points. Neil has already made it clear that he is grumpy about going on this tour. So an exciting, expansive setlist depends on how much Neil wants to play along, and to a lesser degree, Geddy.

Would be cool if they opened with Anthem, the first song on the first album with Neil, commemorating their 40th anniversary, but I doubt that will happen. Geddy just can't sing those tunes anymore.

What Your Doing would be a pleasent surprise. The tune has a fantastic Led Zep riff and groove and I would love to hear it. That would be a sick jam.

I Think I'm Going Bald would be a hilarious choice for them.

More seriously, 2112: Overture/Temples is almost certainly a given, even though it could use a rest.

I'd like to see them bring back In the Mood. In the End would also be pretty cool, but they'd have to rework it to fit Geddy's current voice.

It might also be time to break out Xanadu, which hasn't been played since the R30 tour.

Just remember, there's gonna be a lot of 80's songs. That's often looked at as their best decade. They probably can't use more than about 5 70's songs. Edited by Super25Smasher

For the 70's stuff that I'd like to hear that could be realistic would be:

Bastille Day/Anthem in a medley

What You're Doing (Yeah, I said it)

Beneath Between and Behind

Circumstances

Broons Bane/The Trees

Xanadu

In the Sirius interview with Neil, he said that they're going to play a lot of the songs that "reached the audience". In other words, fan favorites. Diehard fan favorites.

Xanadu and Natural Science *crosses fingers*

I'd say yes and yes there. Xanadu is almost a given at this point, and Natural Science is well within Ged's range, not to mention a crowd favorite.

Considering this is their final tour of this magnitude,

2112 and Working Man are a given

Anticipating Xanadu, Closer to the Heart, La Villa Strangiato, and the Trees

Would not be surprised to hear In the Mood

Would be delighted to hear Hemispheres Prelude, Cinderella Man, Fly by Night, and By-Tor>Return of the Prince, but not getting my hopes up.
