(Realistic) Setlists for the New Tour 2015

I posted this in the other thread that we have for setlists below, but I'm really interested to start a discussion on realistic AND fantastical ones sets as opposed to purely sentimental ones or those on someone's dreamline.

As you'll see below, I love making rush puns.

Here's my Setlist! It's both fantastical and realistic. At the beginning there were too many hands on my time, too many feelings,... Too many things on my mind. However, in the end, I detached and subdivided it over and over, but now I'm happy and would endlessly rock to it any day.

Don't be afraid to give feedback on my setlist, as I can't stop thinking Big, and would enjoy others telling me what they think just between us.

So here goes it.

Set 1

R41 Overture - Working Man

- Anthem

- Bastille Day

- Making Memories

- What You're Doing

*leading straight from the solo towards the end into the opening song*

Far Cry

Driven

Earthshine

Kid Gloves

Red Tide

Nobody's Hero

Malignant Narcissism

Drum Solo

Secret Touch

Closer to The Heart

Second Nature

Emotion Detector

Headlong Flight

-- Intermission --

Act 2

Spirit Of Radio

Free will

Jacob's Ladder

Entre Nous

Different Strings

Natural Science

Afterimage

The Twilight Zone (ambitious, I know)

YYZ

Resist

Broon's Bane

The Trees

Mystic Rhythms

The Enemy Within

Losing It (ambitious Part II)

Everyday Glory

Tom Sawyer

-- Encore --

2112 (Overture, Temples, Finale)

La Villa

Fly By Night**

** Alex talked about how he'd like to do a heavier version of FBN so assuming they do, that's where I'd put it.

What do you think?

You talk about a thread for realistic set lists but then your list is about 10 songs and at least 45-60 minutes longer than the CA tour. On top of that, you include Twilight Zone, Afterimage, & Losin' It which are the stretches among stretches. If they didn't play Losin' It with a string orchestra, it is highly unlikely they would do it without them.

You have some further cuts to make to make it more realistic.

How nice of you to say.

Clockwork Angels was an album tour not a world one as everyone seems to assume that this one will be, so when my setlist is compared to the Time Machine Tour, the previous world tour, mine isn't a far cry timewise.

I agree with you on Losing It but it's a favourite of mine, and what's so stretchy about Afterimage? I don't get that part.

1st set

TMT = 11 songs

Your list = 14 (counting medley as 2 songs)

2nd set

TMT = 12 songs

Your list = 16

Encore

TMT = 2 songs

Your list = 5

Total

TMT = 25 songs

Your list = 35

A song is on average 5 minutes long

10 songs times 5 minutes = 50 minutes

Hence the 45-60 minute estimate

I see........ Yeah. I wonder if someone totalled the average would it be 5 minutes?

You misunderstood. Let me rephrase.

I love that you started a thread about realistic setlists. Most threads contain people's fantasy lists as opposed to real possibilities.

I wasn't putting you down. I was thanking you.

I disagree on afterimage. anything after moving pictures has a fair shot at being played unless the band's specifically said they're not playing it.

I can't think of a specific setlist at the moment but I'm thinking they need to be very careful on how many un-Ged friendly songs they perform.

I'm thinking a lot of instrumentals:

YYZ, La Villa, Where's My Thing, Leave That Thing Alone, Main Monkey Business

I'm thinking some gems that Ged can sing very well:

Different Strings, Jacob's Ladder, Entre Nous

Hits:

Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Spirit of Radio, Working Man, Free Will, New World Man, Subdivisions

R41 Overture:

Fly By Night, The Trees, Cygnus Book I+II (abbreviated)

Newer Stuff:

New Song, Clockwork Angels, Headlong Flight, Far Cry, Earthshine

Mid-Late 80's Stuff:

Time Stand Still, Middletown Dreams

That first set would just kill the crowd right off the bat. You have no massive crowd pleasing song until CTTH. This set is certainly more fantasy than realistic

I'm gonna try and come up with my own realistic set and post it here.

I just think they would have played it by now. I think that was a special song written as a dedication and was never meant to be played live. Just my thought on that song

I'm pretty sure it's been played live.
