Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills

Just recently been on an Iron Maiden kick. The song is just fun to play.

That's awesome! Love that song, I bet it would be fun!

I didn't get into Iron Maiden until about 2010 or so. The guitar player in the band I was in at the time was a fan and made me a CD to listen to of some of his favorite songs. I'm a big Steve Harris fan now.

When I played bass, Steve Harris was a huge influence.

I never knew anything about them. It wasn't until I joined the Talkbass forum that I heard Steve Harris's name mentioned. Maybe they are more popular with bass players because of him.

OT-ish

Spent Sunday jamming (on guitar) with a friend who plays bass. We jammed lot's of blues rhythms (thank you Robben Ford 'Blues rhythm for guitar' booklet)

Sounded great (IMO lol) and much more fun than playing alone.

Diary of a Man Who Vanished - Steve Howe

Malaguena - Roy Clark/Brian Setzer

Spanish Ballad - Traditional

Amazing Grace

Mood for a Day - Steve Howe

I'm working up a 30 minute set of solo guitar to play at the local open mic. This will be good because it will give me actual pieces to work on, rather than noodling about, which I usually end up doing instead of focusing. Since I don't have an acoustic guitar to speak of (and certainly not one that's good enough to do something like this,) it looks like I'll be choosing among my electrics, probably the Gretsch, Tele, and Strat. My Music Man does have a piezo pickup, so that could be an option for a song or two. But I'll only have 30 minutes, and I don't want to use really more than three guitars. I'll have to see.

Good luck with the open mic night :)

I worked on Malagueńa today, just based on videos I've seen, and it has a lot of possibilities because it can be such a free form piece.

Roy Clarke really did some masterful things with that piece. He is truly under appreciated.

Bryan Adams - Run To You

Capo at the 2nd fret, right?

We used to do that one back in the day (as in when the song was current) -- I fretted it. It didn't occur to me back then to use a capo on the song!
