Pink Floyd - Run Like Hell

When I got my first decent delay I played this over and over. So much fun.

Went into a guitar store today to get the withdrawals out and grabbed the first LP I could get my hands on.

Various noodlings of:

When My Train Pulls In - Gary Clark Jr.

Achilles Last Stand - Led Zeppelin

Paschendale - Iron Maiden

Story Of A Quarryman - Joe Bonamassa

The Trees

Alexander The Great - Iron Maiden

Probably a couple other songs I played around with but can't remember.

Just barely over a month before I get my gear back...

Gary Clark Jr is awesome.

He is the real deal.

I'm able to make it work even with the built-in delay on my amp. Kickass song. Love listening to the Pulse version.

I started getting into him over the last couple of weeks. His live album blows me away.

I've listened to that version 10 times the last few days. The song, being in D, is sung with extreme anger, which is amazingly convincing.

I'm using a TC Electronic Alter Ego delay on the Echorec mode setting. Gilmour apparently used two Boss DD-2's in the studio. But I've seen several sources say to just set the delay at 380ms. The Alter Ego doesn't have a read out like that, but I can get it close enough.

He has the most amazing fuzz tones.

Numb is a beast of a song. And Third Stone From the Sun/If You Love Me Like You Say is a revelation.

Yeah, since my delay's just built into the amp (for now, delay pedal is towards the top of my to-buy gear list) it doesn't have anything like that but it's got tap tempo, so it's not hard to set it.

Numb and Catfish Blues singlehandedly melt my brain. And it's awesome.

Just hooked up with a Rush tribute out of Sacramento called Rash so I am wood-shedding some more Rush. Gotta get the rust off Show Don't Tell, Digital Man and figure some out I haven't played before: Countdown, Mission and some others.

Nice. Drums or bass/keys/vox?

Bass only, which is weird in itself. I am so used to playing pedals and keys too that it feels like cheating, or less than it is. Wish it were drums. The drummer is just ok and lacks the subtleties I am used to playing with Adam.

The keyboard player sounds remarkably like Geddy vocally which is a huge relief on that front.
