treeduck
It wasn't an album or albums, it was listening to the radio in the very early 70's, hearing stuff like The Beatles, Slade, Sweet, Neil Diamond, The Carpenters, The Hollies, Procol Harum, Pilot, T-Rex, Jimi Hendrix, Cream etc...

invisible airwave
What got me into rock music in general was Ten by Pearl Jam and Core by STP.
greyfriar
My girl cousin played Dark Side Of The Moon to me when I was 7 or 8. Then she gave me a Beatles compilation album and a record player and I went crazy for music. I remember that she scared the shit out of me by playing Black Sabbath's first album one night.
Union 5-3992
I had listened to crappy radio hits until I was about 11-12. Then a friend recommended that I listen to Led Zeppelin. I got this album at the store and listened to it over and over. It awakened a passion in me that later found the Beatles, then Rush. http://www.progarchives.com/progressive_rock_discography_covers/2705/cover_1753181182009.jpg
RushBoingo
Tough to say for me really. I was always into music on the radio before I started buying albums. I suppose American Idiot could be my answer since that was my first that I bought, but it was not really eye opening for me in a musical sense. It was in helping me appreciate the art of an album though.

Mr. Not
The Beach Boys was what I liked to listen to when I was young.. But what really got me into music was this in 2005: I actually had a radio in my room at the time and I'd keep it on an alternative rock station solely to get the chance to hear it

Powderfinger
For me it was the birth of MTV. My mother typically worked the late shift, and I would stay up all night waiting for her to get home, watching hours upon hours of MTV. I loved Van Halen, Quiet Riot, Def Leppard, David Bowie, the Cars, etc. And of course Rush's Tom Sawyer video made an impression on me. FM radio also pulled me in: Supertramp, Bob Seger, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, etc.
Virtualbob64
I know I'm gonna get alot of flack for this but mine was Kiss Alive! I think I was 12.
Powderfinger
I know I'm gonna get alot of flack for this but mine was Kiss Alive! I think I was 12. On a Fisher Price record player I first listened to my parents' copies of KISS Double Platinum, the Cars Candy-O, and my own 45 copy of Quiet Riot's Cum on Feel the Noize. I think there are quite a few KISS fans on this board.

invisible airwave
As far as the start, it was MTV in the early to mid 80s since I was born in 80 and it was on quite a bit. I vividly remember Huey Lewis and The Police being played a lot. Sports by Huey was the first album I remember being exposed to by my dad. PolarizeMe
Well, I guess for a long time (up until the end of middle school) I had listened to trendy, generic, modern rock/metal and s**t on the radio or whatever until...Rush came along. I mean, I always liked music to an extent but it wasn't a major thing until after I became a Rush fan. That was when I really got into music at least speaking in terms of being a fan of music. Picked up the guitar shortly afterwards before dropping it in favor for a bass (I haven't given it much love and time as it should have), I started buying music legally on a more regular basis and I began going to concerts more regularly.
