Name one non-Rush album that consistently blows you away

The band name started out as Mars on the Horizon, but we kept referring to it as MotH for short, and so that sort of stuck. The next album title will also abbreviate to MotH. :)

Led Zeppelin - Houses Of The Holy

I would pick Physical Graffiti if I were to choose a Zep work....

I picked the third album. I almost went with Presence (that and III are my two favorite Zeppelin albums), but the third album has so many different kinds of energy about it, so I went with that.

Now that I think of it, I cannot let it pass Woud mentioning the huge impact Metropolis Part 2 from Dream Theater had, and continues to have, on me. This record is simply perfect in terms of construction and production.

III is definitely different in many ways than some of the others. Its one of those ones that a person might love or put at the bottom of their list. Nothing but In Through The Out Door could ever be at the bottom for me....

Houses Of The Holy - Led Zeppelin

(I almost picked PhysGraf, which has my favorite Zep song of all time (In The Light), but I think HOTH is more consistent and overall a better album)

I enjoy III as well.

I like Physical Graffiti but it suffers from double album syndrome to me in a way, albeit much less so than many other double albums. Stuff on side 2 like Night Flight and Down By The Seaside just doesn't do it for me. HOTH is able to condense so many styles of music into 8 songs flawlessly (I know some disagree, see The Crunge)

Sorry, can't do just one.

Genesis - Duke

The Who - Quadrophenia

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Queen - Sheer Heart Attack

The Who - Who's Next

From multiple different genres:

Joni Mitchell- Blue

Ray LaMontagne- Till the Sun Turns Black

Black Crowes- amorica.

Miles Davis- Bitches Brew

Genesis- Foxtrot

John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman- S/T

Bob Dylan- The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan

Grateful Dead- American Beauty

Laura Marling- Once I Was an Eagle

Devendra Banhart- Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon

Led Zeppelin III

Guided By Voices- Alien Lanes

That's one, right?

I could go on and on...and on...

Seriously, I just can't do it...so many Dylan and Zep albums. I need to investigate Joni more. I like how you mixed the genres as well.
