I saw them in Philadelphia. I am a recent fan of the band, though I've had most of their albums for many years now, it's only been very recently that they've "clicked". Once I saw they were playing in Philly and that this opportunity might not occur again, I had to get tickets.

The setlist was very 70's heavy, which is a good thing IMO. I wish they would've done anything from SaBB, but seeing Starless and Pictures of a City live was something I never imagined I'd get to see.

I've heard some recordings of this tour - phenomenal. I really wanted to see a show, but they came no where near the south east and I could not break away for a show.

Tony Levin mentioned in his online diary recently that they are all hoping to tour again next year. If they do, I will not miss it.

I saw two shows; Madison, WI, from the 2nd row and then in San Francisco at The Warfield (the Friday night show) from 1/2 way back in the lower balcony. Especially the Madison show, this show is right up there with the most powerful concert experience, EVER!!! The percussion was amazing (especailly Gavin's contributions) but I'm a guitar guy so I was most taken by Fripp, Jacko and Levin. I can't explain how moving the show was for me! They played tunes from my favorite King Crimson era (Starless and Bible Black, Larks' Tongues in Aspic and Red) and simply blew the roof off the fookin' place! Both shows opened and closed with the same tunes (Larks' Tongues opened and 21st CSM closed the encore) but the order was different and a couple of tunes switched. A Fripp, Collins and Jakszyk tune (The Light of Day) played in Madison was replaced by VROOM and Coda: Marine 475 in San Fran. Gavin got only one opportunity to show off his chops during a brilliant solo that was part of 21st CSM at the encore but he was otherwise part of the 12 limb, 3 headed percussion beast at the front of the stage.

A cool encounter outside the venue in Madison: Tony Levin came out and was taking photos of the marquis for his blog (maybe Facebook) and allowed the few of us who arrived early to take his picture. Mr. Fripp came out to the lobby before the show to say hello to his sister who was working the merch booth. She scolded me for wearing my Porcupine Tree RCMH shirt... ;-} Photos were strictly forbidden but I took a few shots with my phone before security cracked down on photos of even the empty stage.

I've been a fan of King Crimson and its members since college. I saw KC during the Thrak tour in Seattle, and have seen Adrian Belew a number of times, Tony Levin Band once and Robert Fripp performing SoundScapes when he opened for Porcupine Tree at The Fillmore in San Fran. The recent shows were really special and I'm very happy that I made the trips to see a couple of the dynamic musical performances...

Tony Levin seems like one of the coolest dudes on earth.

He seemed to be a lot less "rock star" than many others I've seen. I'd like to encounter him outside of being a fan at one of his shows. I understand that he is a mountain biker. I'd love to talk bikes with him sometime...

My buddy just saw them. Being a drummer, he was in heaven.

I'm seeing Adrian Belew in December at a 250 seat venue. Should be amazing.

Where is that show? I'm planning to see him here in the Detroit area, at The Magic Bag, in Ferndale, on Dec. 18; holds no more than 500, probably fewer. If you've seen him before, you know what a great guitar player and entertainer he is. Here a couple of photos from a show I saw in 2009. There were maybe 150 of us at this show. I ended up with the pick that A.B. used all night and then had him sign me while I was wearing my LTiA t-shirt. Good times... ;-}

And then there is Asia. I caught them last Wednesday. It was a really good show but man, did I feel OLD at this one... The band is up there in years (except for the young fill-in guitar player... which meant no Steve Howe ;-{ ) and the fans right up there as well. I felt like I might have been the youngest member of the audience. Wetton can still belt out the vocals and Mr. Palmer is a maniac behind the drum kit. His solo was very energetic and entertaining. The show was about 2 hours long with a 15 minute intermission, and there was no real encore to speak of. As the show was coming to a close, Wetton simply asked if we wanted "to hear one more".... and we did. But after 3 of those, the band took a bow and left the stage. The crowd seemed to understand that that was the end and started to filter out almost immediately and the crew came right out and was tearing down the stage in a matter of minutes. Not a typical rock show ending but still a very good show... even though it was over by 10 p.m. ;-}

Great pics!

It's in Fall River, Ma. The Narrow center for the Arts. Never heard of the place, but they get some stellar performers there.

Did they do Court of the Crimson King? If so, how does it sound in concert? Better or worse than the album?

No, we didn't hear ItCotCK but we did get 21st Century Schizoid Man... which was every bit as amazing live as on vinyl. Jakko did a good job on vocals and the 3 drum kits tore the rhythm to shreds....

Not being a D*ck here, but I always have a hard time with this fascination for espresso. Maybe because around here is like breathing air. I mean, it's not a big deal. You go in, order an espresso, add sugar and SLURP. Done. Pretty short conversations around it. With Tony, I'd have a capuccino at least! :LOL: :lol:

Madison, WI, from the 2nd row ...

I'm in this video at around 2:05.... just under the cymbal and mic of the drum kit to the far right of the picture. I'm whoopin' and clapping with my hands up over my head after the band leaves the stage following the end of the main set.... Good times, indeed!

I saw them in Seattle 2 weeks ago. Despite being at the very back, it was a relatively small venue, so everyone had a good seat. And except for a few of Collins screechy notes, this was the only indoor show I've been to where the volume was not head crushing high. Very perfect.

Stand outs included Larks Tongues 1 (how many bands open with a percussion duet?), Red (with Collins taking a few of the guitar parts on flute), Pictures of a City, Scarcity of Miracles, Red Nightmare (perhaps not technicly impressive, but the drummers each doing their own little solos, I found those pretty cool), Larks Part 2 (ripping Collins solo), STARLESS!, and of course Schizoid Man as the final encore (with a Gavin solo).

Very cool in all. Sadly, my truck broke down on my way out of the city. Without going into details, I was up for about 40 hours the day of the show, and in a lot of stress soon after the show, that my memories are kind of marred. Still, totally worth it.

3 King Crimson dates in late November, 2015, in YYZ. Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I just landed a single in the front row in front of Mr. Harrison and Mr. Fripp ( assuming the stage set-up hasn't changed ) for Saturday night. Rock on! Edited by Huge Ackman

KC have been touring for a while in the US. Anyone here has been lucky enough to catch them? How was it? I can only eat my nails in envy.

BTW, check out the hilarious DGM tour video channel, where Fripp shows what a great comedian he can be: https://www.youtube.com/user/DGMLiveHQ

The only time I ever saw King Crimson was when they opened up for TOOL in a small little venue in Berkeley Ca.

It was one hell of a double bill.
