I've gotten a few PMs in the past week from people who upgraded to IE11, and immediately had problems with it on TRF -- can't quote posts, letters don't register when typing a post, and a couple of other problems.

There's an obvious incompatibility between IE11 and this board software. We're waiting and hoping for a software patch to correct this -- maybe when we finally move to the new server we can do an upgrade at the same time.

In the meantime, I'd suggest holding off on upgrading to IE11. Use an older version, or use Firefox or Opera or Chrome -- pretty much any other browser than IE11.

Everyone should do that, whether or not they use TRF.

Agreed, though on principle I can't recommend Google Chrome, simply because it's made by Google and they only want to study your browsing habits so they can throw ads at you. Firefox and Opera have no such intentions with their browsers.

I've actually found chrome hangs quite a bit when using chat for more than 10 minutes. Has anyone experienced this as well?

I've been using Chrome for the last several years and it's so much faster. Firefox used to cause issues with my computer so I can't use it. Thunderbird Mail used to crash all the time.

The only thing I use Firefox for is code debugging if I'm doing web stuff. The debugger on that browser is glorious, Chrome's is okay but not as good.

I've tried using Firefox as a normal browser before, but it's not my preferred flavor.

Chrome is love. Chrome is life.

I'm using standard Google. If I started using something else like Firefox or Chrome, I'd be worried about whether the board will let me log in, like as if it won't recognize my details.

Glad to see some people can do that. I'm on Windows7 and my IE11 doesn't work well on here.

It's a bit like if you still use Internet Explorer people think you're a computer novice.

I bought a new computer a few months ago but got 7 on it. Everyone I know that's got 8 has regretted it.

Windows XP was an AWESOME OS but any machine with XP is too slow nowadays and very little today in terms of software would support it. It's a shame, because XP was the tits.

I'm finding a problem with iOS8. Again it is probably just a compatibility issue that will sort itself out before long.

If you keep that little holographic sticker, you can legally install XP on your next machine when you change. I believe most every day software still works fine on it. The sticker has your CD key and is also used as proof of purchase which you can use on any windows XP installer (so it's cool if you lost your CD and have to acquire another copy by other means).

However, I'm not sure if you'll be able to use it on a 64 bit version if you have a 32 bit version version of the OS (which is likely). You'll need the 64 bit version if you've got a machine with more than 4GB of RAM.
