Have you ever had real deep dish pizza? You get filled up more on cheese than you do bread.

Have you ever had real deep dish pizza? You get filled up more on cheese than you do bread.

 

That's all the more reason for me not to eat deep dish pizzas—I like very little cheese on mine.

I have been to both those places and the original Uno's - before they chainified it. I like them all, but Gino's is my favorite also. I do like Chicaco style, but I take a nice simple thin brick oven pizza any day. Plus - those pizzas cook in 4 minutes at 900 degrees, not 45 minutes at 400 :LOL:

Don't get me wrong. Thin crust pizza, especially ones cooked in a brick oven, are still delicious. I just prefer deep dish. And you are certainly right about the cook time. You have to be patient if you are getting deep dish pizza.

Don't get me wrong. Thin crust pizza, especially ones cooked in a brick oven, are still delicious. I just prefer deep dish. And you are certainly right about the cook time. You have to be patient if you are getting deep dish pizza.

That was on cool thing about those places. If they were busy, and it was a 30 minute wait or whatever, they would take your pizza order, and then your pizza was there 15-20 minutes after you sat down instead of having to wait the full time. Smart on their part to get tables turned around faster

I have had Chicago deep dish and I believe it was actually Ginos. If not Ginos, it was another well known hang. Definitely good but yeah I prefer thin :)

Thanks, ILS, Gino's is the absolute best. I had Gino's East in HS when our German club took a field trip to the Art Institute. That was the first day I ever heard Hemispheres (my friend bought it downtown and had his boombox with him so he played it on the bus on the way home.)

 

I had no idea you could order it. I don't suppose you have...just wondering how good it was delivered 500 miles.

I'm 15 minutes from a Gino's so I've never ordered it like that. I've sent Lou's out to WCM and he said it was great.

A pizza with good , fresh, homemade (full fat, none of that part-skim garbage) mozzarella and maybe another quality cheese, is the best. I love plain cheese pizza but it has to be really good cheese, not cheap mass-produced crap off the Sysco truck.

Yeah, the cheese is the absolute best part for me, and when we're talking high-quality mozzarella, there are few foods I enjoy more than a straightforward cheese pizza. And the consequences of using some subpar substance in place of good mozzarella can definitely be disastrous.
