The Weapon for me, although WH is very close. I love the way the middle section of Weapon builds to the killer guitar solo. When I listen to this song while driving down the road, it makes me pound the steering wheel. One of the band's best overall, IMO.

Blue Barchetta, that's my favorite part too, and it is a killer guitar solo.

Speaking of you pounding the steering wheel, it makes Geddy pound too. If you have the Grace Under Pressure tour DVD, watch him pound his bass at one part. Whoever filmed that concert and put it all together did an excellent job.

In my opinion, that song is incredible. I think it may be my #2 favorite Rush song.

I'll go:

The Enemy Within

Freeze

The Weapon

Witch Hunt (though the lyrics are brilliant)

You're outta your damn mind Led! Freeze above TW and WH?

Freeze is awesome. I find The Weapon and The Enemy Within a little to bouncy, as far as the theme goes. Witch Hunt really gives me the chills, an actual sense of the fear it describes, and Freeze is pefection.

So I get Freeze over TW. But WH?

Which hunt is boring and plodding. I love the lyrics, and I know that the music goes well with the lyrics, but I simply don't like the music at all.

The Weapon is far too long and filled with filler.

Freeze rocks hard and is quite an interesting song. The Enemy Within has great lyrics, great music, great imagery...it's simply great.

Fair enough. For me, it's the vocals and the synth that make Witch Hunt such an incredible song

Killer filler. Love that filler.

Yeah. More killer filler for me too. The song isn't long enough.

Don't you just think there is something totally unique about that song? When I first heard it, I thought it was an instant classic.

Like much of the music in the synth era, it sounds like early 80's casio fetish gone awry in some spots. There's a good song in there, but it comes out despite the synths, not because of them.

Alex makes that song. And many others.

As much as I love Witch Hunt, and it is so in my wheel house as far as an impressionable age, I've got to go with TEW. And I don't know why, to quote some old travel channel guy. Plus I came up with a rather witty parody of it.

The Enema Within

Fart one? Oh dear!

Something’s stuck in the darkness

There where light cannot get in

I don’t drink enough water

I had too much cheese again

Pou pou pou pounding down the ex lax?

Go in through the out door again?

I have got no sense-

So hence

An enema within

It’s tough going in

Vaseline reduces pressure

Careful coming out

It’s a true liquid adventure

I need some relief

And it's my only means

Experience to extremes

Experience to extremes

Suddenly the phone rings

Can I make it to the den?

Another dumb move I know

Man I really need to pass wind

Every step is much less large

My backside is sunk in

Booty muscles tensed to fence

The enema within

I pick up the phone

Of course it's my freaking mother

I can not get off

She wants to talk about an hour

My colon is about to burst at the seams

Experience to extremes

Experience to extremes.

Oh dude- is that movement, did I feel action?

Some Depends would give satisfaction

And dude- can I keep up the resistance

My guts are giving, so much insistence

Eah dude- it’s gonna take all my persistence

To make it the freaking distance

I did make it in

It’s now coming out

I’ll never repeat my implausible scheme

Experience to extremes -

That's totally disgusting. I can't believe they don't ban you for that kind of scatological humor. Childish humor about bodily functions gets old FAST. Some people try to be funny but usually fail. You can make jokes but don't EVER make fun of the boys' work by changing the name of the songs. That's just blasphemy. You must respect the boys' work. I think we should start a petition to get you banned.

:)

On another note, I was laughing my ass off...even though you DID steal my "Enema Within" name. I was SOOOO trying NOT to laugh...but I spewed Diet Pepsi through my nose thanks to you. Great lyrics, too!!! Just don't keep it up or the mods will ban you for being silly around here...

Now, get to work on the parody of B*tch ***t!

Two thumbs up...in Roger Ebert's corpse.

Hey, cool! Have you heard the parody of "Dog Years?" It's called "Dog Years."

Enemy Within.

Neil made a mistake randomly marking Freeze as part of the Fear series. I don't really hear much of a correlation plus its just not a very good song like most of the second half of the VT album. Could've easily been edited out.

The theme of "Fight or Flight" fits fine as a part of the fear series, I think.

Yup. Thematically it fits fine.

Musically, it's outclassed IMHO.

It's a dead tie between The Weapon and Witch Hunt for me. I feel in love with both these tracks as soon as I first heard them and they easily make it into probably my top 50 Rush songs.
