The Cat 3
As I am winding down my current Kinks marathon with two amazing box sets (Picture Book - 6 CDs and The Kinks at The BBC - 5 CDs), I am thinking about which band I am going to tackle in a music marathon next. My Kinks marathon should wind down by week's end and the next marathon to begin next Sunday. The key here is, I have to have to have all of their albums (studio and live) and listen to them in chronological order. So, I've decided to leave the choice (from the list below) up to all of you, my dear Rush brothers and sisters. Here are the choices I've selected... 1: The Who 2: David Bowie 3: Rush 4: Thin Lizzy 5: Pink Floyd 6: Ramones 7 Dire Straits ...thank you, in advance, for your assistance in my music listening pleasure. The Cat 3
Your_Lion and Troutman... I just picked up a Thin Lizzy album under the name Funky Junction. Entitled, "Funky Junction Play a Tribute to Deep Purple" It came out in 1973 and is a Deep Purple cover album. Thin Lizzy is up to 3 votes!!! http://weirdorecords.com/zen/images/14532.jpg

I haven't heard of that one. Is it any good?I can't imagine them doing Purple covers, especially with no keyboard player also...did someone forget to vote for Lizzy? Four of us have mentioned them, but there's only three votes Edited July 21, 2014 by Your_Lion
ReRushed
You inspired me to attempt a marathon. I'm diving into Neil Young's discography. As for your question, since all the original Ramones are no longer with us, I say the Ramones!
The Cat 3
ReRushed... Neil Young is a pretty big undertaking. I have almost 700 songs by him and that isn't even the complete works. A great marathon you must be having. ~Cheers, RGLT PS...don't forget to cast your vote!

invisible airwave
I just did one for my Ramones albums on Spotify last week in honor of the late Tommy so I picked that. I'm doing a Tom Petty marathon of his albums to coincide with next week's release of Hypnotic Eye. I've heard 5 of the tracks on Spotify that he's released. It's actually available to preview on NPR's music website and their iPhone app as well now. I'll definitely do a PF marathon the week before that new Division Bell sessions album comes out in a few months.

All good but Aladdin and Heroes are tops for me. I highly recommend that recent BBC documentary, Five Years. It's gonna premiere in the states on Showtime next month. They've made some awesome music documentaries lately like U2, Eagles and Springsteen to name a few.
