Lindsey Stirling

Recommended Posts

My 16 year old daughter recently introduced me to the existence of this person called Lindsey Stirling.

Here is a small tiny taste of who she is and what she does with her violin:

Since my daughter introduced me to her work recently, I have become a huge fan. Lindsey Stirling is awesome.

I have heard of her through Owl City's new song Beautiful Times. She does not do a ton in it, hence the feat instead of with. I really enjoyed her contribution, and like what work I have heard. Here is the song, but listeners beware, this music is FAR from Rush, but if you enjoy light airy synth stuff, then you might like it.

She first comes in at 1:18 with a solo at 1:30

Oh, I love this girl. Fantastic violin player, and what she's doing is innovative as hell.

I recommend this one:

She also did some really good versions of Lord of the Rings and Legend of Zelda.

This song is a lot of fun. Pretty sweet dance moves too.

I've heard of Lindsey Stirling from Halestorm vocalist Lzzy Hale as she sang a track from Stirling's new album.

After hearing that, I took a listen of her catalog and enjoyed it. It's good listening music while playing online games.

I just picked up her debut album. It's really good, not a ton of distinction track to track so far (except the opener) but as a full album experience it is thoroughly enjoyable.

I just had a thought, I would love to see her do a cover of losing it.

Been going through a Lindsey binge lately. I listened to her newer album and while I like a few songs on it, I think the first album overall is better. The second one's got a real stinker in We Are Giants. Essentially a Top 40-esque shitty pop song.

That said, Beyond The Veil and Roundtable Rival are great, as are Master Of Tides and the title track.

My girlfriend is a very skilled violinist and loves playing Lindsey's stuff. We've talked about doing a rocked-up version of Moon Trance, which already rocks to begin with :haz: If anything, I would just like to record a guitar cover of it.

Here's an excellent one I found:

Check out Lili Haydn if you want to check out violinist. I first heard of here when I say Page Plant in '95 in LA. She joined them on stage for Kashmir. Then she opened up for them on the '98 tour.

Her first CD "Lili" is great, more of a rock feel. Since then she has been all over the place musically. Tried to look on Youtube but nothing from the first CD is available. With her being on a small label she never made a official video for the 1st CD.

Here is a link for a couple of her random video's

I have both of her albums now, actually for quite some time now. The debut is a better album overall, but her second one, Shatter Me is better track by track. Both of them dip a bit in interest, but I suppose they can't be full of fast stuff. In response to Bowl City, I actually enjoy We Are Giants, it may have some similar qualities to bad pop music, but it works in a way.

Also I learned how to play two of her songs, Electric Daisy Violin and Moon Trance on Marimba. They are VERY difficult. The only easy think about them is that they keep a constant beat and key.

I just found this thread. It's nice to see there are other Lindsey fans here.

I just saw her perform last night in Toronto and she was awesome. If you haven't seen her live, you should make it a priority. Best show I've been to in years!
