Presto-digitation
Following months of speculation, Foo Fighters have finally confirmed details of their highly-anticipated eighth studio album. The as-yet-untitled record, serving as the follow-up to 2011′s excellent Wasting Light, will arrive in the fall through Roswell/RCA Records. The album’s release will coincide with the airing of Dave Grohl’s new HBO TV documentary series, which was first reported yesterday. According to a press release, the series will document Foo Fighters’ sessions in eight different cities — Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, DC and New York — as they record the album in various legendary studios. The press release explains: “One song was recorded in each city, every song featuring local legends sitting in, and every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became part of the process. “Each episode delves into the singular regional identity of each city-how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns-ultimately celebrating their common bond: Every artist that appears in the show, regardless of genre or locale, started as an average kid with the universal dreams of making music and making it big.” Edited May 15, 2014 by Presto-digitation
J2112YYZ
Wasting Light will be a hard album to top. If they can come out with something that is at least half as good as that I'll be happy. I saw them on the last tour and they played over two and a half hours, certainly a band you should catch live if you can. EagleMoon
One thing you have to say about them, they're not afraid to experiment. I've never seen them in concert but would like to.
Presto-digitation
I saw them on their Wasting Light tour. Very good. You're right that they do what they feel they need to in order to keep it fresh. Even if that occasionally elicits mixed results, at least it doesn't get boring for these guys. custom55
Take note of Taylor's shirt. I'm a huge fan of their earlier albums... when they rocked hard. This, for example from an EP ( B-side ) off their 1st album. Time for more heavier music from the Foos. http://youtu.be/1efMYI2PsKQ Edited May 16, 2014 by custom55
ReRushed
Dave Grohl works his ass off. And being talented sure does help. I'm a Nirvana fan and it took me a while to listen to, let alone acknowledge, Foo Fighters. Very well-produced, quality, professional rock and roll. I like it. Question - has Dave Grohl worked with and earned the respect of every single one of his influences?

custom55
I think Dave is the most talented musician out there today... drummer, singer, guitar and writer. the total package.
Anguyen92
Question - has Dave Grohl worked with and earned the respect of every single one of his influences? Well, if he hasn't yet, he's pretty darn close. Working with the likes of Lemmy, Paul McCartney, playing with some of the guys in Led Zeppelin (especially John Paul Jones with Them Crooked Vultures), amongst others. Segue Myles
Foo Fighters are not one of my favourite studio bands at all. But I saw them live in 2011 and it was to this day the single greatest concert of my entire life! Magic, no band has come close, ever (except for maybe Muse).

Who hasn't he worked with by now? Edited May 17, 2014 by Union 5-3992
