It's more interesting if the band you pick doesn't already have an official best of compilation, but that can't stop you from making your own as well.

Here is mine for Animal Collective, not only do they not have a best of album, their live albums are all unreleased content, or improvised songs, so there is no trace of buying all the favorites on one disc. Note, this is not a perfect best of, as I don't own their first 5 (of 9) albums, but those first 3 are more like pre-Animal Collective albums, and I know songs off the other two, so it works.

I plan on it but Yes is tough because of the long epics. I was going to do that one first but there is so much great material to choose from. I think I will attempt to divide it into whole sides (epics) and then all short songs on the other two sides . It has to be at least a double album as well...... :)
