New Slash album with Myles Kennedy expected September 2014

Recommended Posts

So I heard news that California Breed is going to open for Slash/Myles/Conspirators in the UK shows. That's cool. Glenn Hughes had played with Slash and Myles during the Kings of Chaos shows and he appreciates a lot of what they do, especially Myles, so this should be a good line-up for the UK.

The new single is out on iTunes right now. It's pretty good as the 1st single. Better than You're A Lie, imo. Everything sounds point on. Slash's guitar playing. Myles' voice. Todd Damnit Kerns' backup vocals. It's all good.

This is actually got me pumped right now. They got a headlining show coming up on August 9th in Temecula, CA at a theater in a casino. It's only a little over an hour from here. I may consider going although ticket prices are a bit steep. It ranges from $69-99. It's so close and I really want to see my favorite vocalist of all time for the 1st time, ever.

Quite honestly the most fun I've had at a show in a long time. The band was phenomenal. Myles is every bit as good live as he is in the studio. They did a great version of You Could Be Mine. But that's my one complaint. I'd rather have heard more Apocalyptic Love and the new album, and maybe 1 or 2 GNR and Velvet Revolver tunes.

Anyways, Slash showed why he continues to be viable, and GNR with Chickenhat and Stumblebum sold 6 albums.

Streaming on Pandora now. If you like Apocalyptic Love you'll like it.

But to be honest, after a few spins, I like Apocalyptic Love better. And I don't believe in "growers" that you go from "meh" to loving. I can learn to appreciate, even really like, an album over time, like I did with Grace Under Pressure. But 20 years on, I still don't like Grace Under Pressure more than it's 3 predecessors. I enjoy World on Fire because I like Slash with Myles and company. But Apocalyptic Love is stronger.

You don't believe in growers? From meh to love?

Well in that case I better burn my top five favourite albums then.

Lolsies!

Why? Because I don't end up really loving an album that I didn't love from the get go? Don't let me stop you from appreciating "challenging" records. ;)

I think it is amazing how different each person approaches music. I must have lazy ears, as I rarely love anything from the first play!

Nah. But honestly Segue, you've never heard a song and just said "I love that tune" the first time you heard it? Staying on topic, that's how I felt about the songs Apocalyptic Love and Standing in the Sun. Same for 30 Years to Life on the new album. I just feel like Apocalyptic Love had more of them.

O yeah loads of times!

I was just surprised that nothing you initially felt lukewarm to now has your complete devotion.

I've never been a fan of slash, he just sounds like an average pentatonic noodler to me.

My thoughts exactly. But for some reason I like his work with Myles (although I still think Myles work with Slash is not as good as the rest of his work).

Never something that I was only lukewarm about, no.

Slash and Myles and the Conspirators released a live album, Live at the Roxy 25.9.14, from the World on Fire Tour. Great album. Many of the same songs that appear on Made in Stoke 24/7/11 though, so I don't know how "essential" it is.

Anyways, recently I've been getting into Slash's Snakepit albums, It's Five O'Clock Somewhere and Ain't Life Grand.

The singer on Five O'Clock, Eric Dover, reminds me a lot of Sebastian Bach and the singer on ALG, Rod Jackson, sounds a lot like the voice of Steel Dragon from Rock Star, which is kind of funny. Myles Kennedy, the voice of Slash's band now, is in the movie as Thor, the guy who replaces Marky Mark in the band during a concert. But both albums are great melodic hard rock.
