x1yyz
I have pics of the process ( the ugliness of my lower arm and hand throughout the process so far at different stages) and now some x ray pics from this morning. The external arm and hand pics are really gross but the x rays are pretty cool. I wouldn't post any as it would/could be quite offensive to many folks around here. Please post the photos. I am very interested in medical stuff and would like to see them. You can put them behind a spoiler tag if you think others wouldn't like them.I don't know to use the spoiler tag thingy. Help?... :) When you post, if you click on the little square icon with the green & blue, to the right of "Font", it allows you to select special BB Code. Just pick "Spoiler" and then type in or place image links to whatever you want to hide. Basically it just puts [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] tags around the stuff you want hidden. If you saw the other pics of the outside it wouldn't be pretty. Once I committed to this 2 years ago I knew my golf game was history.... :(

Narps
Just start another thread and put a warning in the title.I better not. Like I said, the x rays are pretty cool and I wouldn't think would offend anyone. I think the rest would be a bit much but would explain why I was out of comission for over about 10 days. I may post the x rays on here tomorrow just for kicks. I am in bed already now. Happy New Year right? Woohoo Yeah I know what you mean. I'm not doing anything tonight except maybe taking a nap. I don't think there'd be any problem with posting your pictures but it's up to you. Thanks and enjoy your night... :) At least you have good, legal drugs to celebrate with! Downside - no alcohol. But I'm not partaking either, so that's 2 of us at least. :) So glad you're feeling better and better. I am another who'd like to see pics if you want to share - remember, I've been known to post links to really gory video clips of huge abscesses being drained of gallons of pus. I totally understand if you'd rather not, though.I have already backed way down on the pain killers. I don't want to get hooked or dependant. I am back to where I was prior to the surgery. Twice a day at a low dose as opposed to around every 3 hours at the highest dose. Having the cast put on is a big deal or threshold if you will. I even went back to the gym this morning and no plans to stop (rest) again anytime soon. Much appreciate the very kind words and have a great night... Warning to all some gross pictures follow in this post. Don't look if you don't feel up to it!!!Ok you asked so ye shall receive. A word of warning these photos are not pretty. The first one was taken only 4 days after the surgery.... http://s10.postimg.org/reb8rf5ax/20141222_090016.jpg 5 or 6 days after the surgery below. This will cut down on the ole post count for a while..... http://s14.postimg.org/y7zb6vazl/20141223_200223.jpg A couple days ago before the cast is put on. Much improved I guess.... :) http://s11.postimg.org/eyarbw5ur/20141230_101541.jpg

Mara
Cool pics (though maybe not for you), not nearly as gory as I expected. Still, anytime you're sent home with a drain emerging from a stitched-up wound, that's serious! If you don't mind my asking, what was the original reason for the surgery? Still, anytime you're sent home with a drain emerging from a stitched-up wound, that's serious! If you don't mind my asking, what was the original reason for the surgery? My right hand had some serious arthritis and was killing me on a daily basis. Wear and tear over the years had taken a toll. I put up with it for years but just couldn't stand it any longer. I had already quit bowling (which I was very good at) and golf (which I wasn't bad). Some of my depression and anxiety issues I have been dealing with I think stem from that. All of my fun and recreation is gone. Thats part of the reason I hit the gym.... :)

I know you're training a lot on the treadmill; now's an ideal time to pick a race in the spring and make that a goal. I met some cool people when I was running. There are even running clubs but those may be a little intense and competitive for some tastes.

I started back running some this morning and the cast should be gone by then (hopefully). I should be able to do at least as well as last year I would hope. It was my first ever 5k and I did 28 minutes. I didn't think it to bad for an older dude with just a bit of training....

MMCXII
I had a tendon transfer operation on my right hand a couple years ago. Maybe not as serious as your deal but it's still a bit swollen to this day. sucks if your right hand's in a cast and you're right handed too (and no, I don't mean that in a dirty way!) Best of luck on the road to recovery!

Narps
Just an update for those keeping score or care about these kinds of things. Had my first cast and the stitches removed this morning. Got everything all cleaned up and they put a new pink cast on and I will sadly be in this one for another month. Some pics below if anyone is interested. These are now one month after surgery.... http://s29.postimg.o...0119_093109.jpg http://s3.postimg.org/opj8sep1v/20150119_092922.jpg http://s17.postimg.org/v1s8r6fv3/20150119_101046.jpg http://s4.postimg.org/8ogq7eaj1/20150119_102022.jpg Edited January 19, 2015 by Narpski
