Lost In Xanadu
That was Narpski reporting live from his estate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. And now, for your entertainment, we will have Mr. LIX perform live, juggling a bright array of Christmas balls while singing Dog Years in falsetto. Mr. Awesome? You're on! :)There's only one way I can hit the falsetto, and I'd appreciate you not kick me :o Just sing then. And don't drop the Christmas ornaments. I'm quite the juggler - no worry there. In fact, at a company picnic - there was a line of 4 of us, juggling 3 bocce balls, and we'd pass them down the row. They video taped it and everything. Nobody got injured despite the beer we had been drinking!

I won't be back to the gym till next week sometime. I need to wait till I get a cast put on. I just won't eat till then Glad it went well! Are they waiting for the swelling to reduce before putting the cast on? Don't understand the wait. Did you find the cuff attachment I mentioned in the other thread? I asked the girl about hers - it's just the standard one made by Harbinger with a velcro closure. There's another item called The Isolator that does the same but is a lot more advanced and versatile - you can hang dumbbells off of it and stuff. But it's $$$$$. I covet one. I covet one.Its swollen, black and blue and a boatload of stiches. They will remove the stiches next tueday and cast it. I got pics of it yesterday when they removed the drain and re-dressed it. It looks awful. Truth is I am wiped out from the surgery and pain killers right now to even consider exercise at all. Once the cast is on I will get back at it. Appreciate you asking... :) Surgery does take it out of you. My initial hip replacement and then the socket revision were done under an epidural with moderate sedation (at my request) which helped a lot. I hate that grogginess that stays with you after surgery. Narcotic painkillers are fun for a while, IMO just about the only upside to having any kind of ouchy surgery, but even that charm wears off after a couple of weeks on. I would fail as an addict. Enjoy the forced rest - you might as well!

Narps
Just an FYI. Got my temporary dressing off and my cast put on this morning and my fingers are now more free and nimble (and not swollen as hell). I should be able to post a bit more for what its worth. If I were a Baltimore Ravens fan this cast would be perfect.... :)http://s23.postimg.org/rpiv7czd7/20141230_134527.jpg
Mara
So is this surgery meant to give you more use of the hand?
Narps
So is this surgery meant to give you more use of the hand?In theory, less to no pain first and foremost. I will have no ability to bend my wrist at all but my fingers and hand should work normally with again little or no cramping or pain. I have pics of the process ( the ugliness of my lower arm and hand throughout the process so far at different stages) and now some x ray pics from this morning. The external arm and hand pics are really gross but the x rays are pretty cool. I wouldn't post any as it would/could be quite offensive to many folks around here. I was waiting for the cast and the swelling to go down to hit the gym. Tomorrow morning should be time to get back to it. I have been really good about my eating over this 10 day period as I have been in bed and on pain meds 90% of the time these past 10 days or so. I really appreciate your question, concern and caring very much.... :)

I just think it's a cool-looking cast! If you're going to be gimpy, then be gimpy in style! :D

Narps
Just start another thread and put a warning in the title.I better not. Like I said, the x rays are pretty cool and I wouldn't think would offend anyone. I think the rest would be a bit much but would explain why I was out of comission for over about 10 days. I may post the x rays on here tomorrow just for kicks. I am in bed already now. Happy New Year right? Woohoo Just start another thread and put a warning in the title.I better not. But I'm not partaking either, so that's 2 of us at least. :) So glad you're feeling better and better. I am another who'd like to see pics if you want to share - remember, I've been known to post links to really gory video clips of huge abscesses being drained of gallons of pus. I totally understand if you'd rather not, though.

I totally understand if you'd rather not, though.I have already backed way down on the pain killers. I don't want to get hooked or dependant. I am back to where I was prior to the surgery. Twice a day at a low dose as opposed to around every 3 hours at the highest dose. Having the cast put on is a big deal or threshold if you will. I even went back to the gym this morning and no plans to stop (rest) again anytime soon. Much appreciate the very kind words and have a great night...

I totally understand if you'd rather not, though. The first x ray is my hand after the first surgery a little less than 2 years ago. They fused the bones in the back of my hand with a small plate in the center and 9 screws. It didn't really net the results I was looking for. I could barely bend my wrist and it hurt most of the time....http://s18.postimg.org/6wnmikebt/20141117_112743.jpgThe next two are what they just did less than 2 weeks ago. He removed all of the old hardware and installed a long titanium plate and a bunch of screws to totally immobilize the wrist from bending any. Hopefully this will be the last procedure. It will take a few months to heal completely and then I will see what the results truly are for day to day living....http://s15.postimg.org/mgac1efob/20141230_103403.jpghttp://s3.postimg.org/py5r3181v/20141230_103205.jpg
