I had a friend when I was younger that was gaga about Lou Reed. I just didn't get it and he didn't get Rush either. Agree to disagree I guess. RIP Lou :rose: "and the African American girls sing do da do da do da do da".............. :guitar:

In Berlin, by the wall

You were five foot ten inches tall

It was very nice

Candlelight and Dubonnet on ice

We were in a small cafe

You could hear the guitars play

It was very nice

It was paradise

You're right and I'm wrong

Hey babe, I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone

One sweet day

Oh, you're right and I'm wrong

You know I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone

One sweet day

One sweet day

In a small, small cafe

We could hear the guitars play

It was very nice

Candlelight and Dubonnet on ice

Don't forget, hire the vet

He hasn't had much fun yet

It was very nice

Hey honey, it was paradise

You're right and I'm wrong

Hey babe, I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone

One sweet day

You're right, oh, and I'm wrong

You know I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone

One sweet day, one sweet day

One sweet day

One sweet day, oh, one sweet day

One sweet day, baby, baby, one sweet day...

Jenny said

When she was just five years old

There was nothing happening at all

Every time she puts on a radio

There was a nothin' goin' down at all,

Not at all

Then one fine mornin'

She puts on a New York station

You know, she couldn't believe

What she heard at all

She started dancin'

To that fine fine music

You know her life

Was saved by rock 'n' roll

Despite all the amputations

You know you could just go out

And dance to a rock 'n' roll station

It was alright

It was allright

Hey baby, You know it was allright

When she was just by five years old

You know why parents gonna be the death of us all

Two TV sets and two Cadillac cars -

Well you know it ain't gonna help

Me at all

Then one fine mornin'

She turns on a New York station

She doesn't believe

What she hears at all

Ooh, She started dancin'

To that fine fine music

You know her life

Is saved by rock 'n' roll,

Despite all the computations

You could just dance

To a rock 'n' roll station

And baby it was alright

And it was alright

Hey it was alright

Hey here she comes now!

Jump! Jump!

It was alright

I'm devastated.

Devastated? Really?

Yeah, but not like a loved one passed away kind of way. I've been listening to Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground for more than half of my life. Lou Reed's music means a lot to me. Poor choice of words? Sure, I'll give you that, but I'm pretty bummed out.

Wow, now this is a blow. The Velvet Underground was a BIG part of my troubled hipster phase, as was the album, Berlin. The fact that Lou Reed's music made the depression easier by making me feel less alone in that state of mind means a lot now that I look back on it.

Hate to have to say it, but :sigh: R.I.P. Lou Reed

You gotta love the TRF default auto-correct! Something tells me that somewhere Lou Reed is amused. :rose:

:notworthy: Thanks Goose. I am just glad someone realized my intent in this Godforsaken PC world we live in! Not meaning to minimize Lou's death in any way. It just popped into my head and I found it ironic in some way. :codger:

Heard about his death on NPR while driving in my car today.

Relayed the news to my brother later, and we drank a toast to Lou, may he RIP.

Lou Reed was a true original, always going his own way, not giving a f**k what anybody else thought about it.

/salute
