Nikon D4 + Nikor 70-200 f2.8 lens ....... Will post a couple of pics later

Would love to know how you smuggled that kind of gear into a Rush concert...even in the UK.

I have all Canon gear: 5D and professional L glass ranging from 17mm to 200mm. Would LOVE to have a chance to actually use that for a good concert...'tis but a pipe dream.

Had to have a photo pass. The D4 is the same size as the 1 series bodies. You just don't smuggle a body and lens that size. Besides that, I wouldn't take the chance of missing a concert because I got caught trying to get it in and had to sit in the car protecting my gear.

It is possible to "smuggle" in HUGE lenses and camera gear without a press pass. The guy next to me (actually, he bought my extra ticket, so was right next to me) at Red Rocks in Aug., 2010, had his super-nice SLR with monster lenses just tucked into his cargo shorts and walked right in. He looked like MC Hammer with bulging dance pants but he just came on in with all of his pro gear and snapped away all night from row 19. I saw some of the photos just after the show but lost track of them and the guy. It's not easy but it is possible...

Great photos! And who's the female guitarist? That's a great shot.

And I couldn't bring myself to delete Geddy and Alex, so I had to leave them here in the quote! :)

I'd never risk sneaking my dslr into a gig ..... As for passes , start small , and build up trust and contacts ... Takes a while , but it's worth the effort .

Gosh, I would love to be able to be a photographer at a concert. Not that I'm anywhere near professional level, but it would be so much fun if that was my job. Well, actually, now that I think about it, I like taking photos at Rush concerts. I've been so deprived of other shows, I'm not sure if the photography allure is with Rush (because Geddy's so cute) or because I like having a camera stuck to my hands....

Umm…my iPhone. Yeah…

Yeah, I've been real successful with my IPhone ;) ...most pics are so blurry and distorted I can't make out what I was trying to capture! :banghead: So much for rocking out to :rush: and trying to get good pics of the guys at the same time! I'll substitute my phone for computer here... :fuckinputer: Huge though always manages to take great pics!!.... :notworthy:

I took in a 6 year old Cannon Powershot 5a to the show, not knowing if it would be confiscated or not. I was pleasantly surpised at the pictures an old $100 camera could take.

I've used a Samsung WB850F for taking pics at the 2013 shows. Here are several of my CA tour pics:

I've also used a Lumix TZ40 for shooting some videoclips. That Samsung WB850F camera is really crap when it comes to sound recording :banghead:

I've used my iPhone, but unless you're front row, then you're not gonna get any good shots!

Me and my dad flew to Canada to catch Rush live, and spent the whole day walking around and then went to the concert. I had brought my DSLR, and tried to get through the security guards but they all told me i cannot have that whatsoever. So i disassembled it and threw half in the very bottom of my camera bag, and the other half in a shopping bag and handed that to my dad. And we got in! I got some really good shots with that heheheh, but i'd never try it again! (especially in america...)

But if you're looking for a point and shoot, then I'd recommend either the Cannon G9 or the Nikon p7700. Super great little point and shoots!

Here's some shots from the iPhone front row http://i.imgur.com/FCkjPJJ.jpg

his belly was stickin out :P

And here's some shots from the Nikon p7700

not bad considering we were waaaay in the back for this one!

but like i said, unless you're front row, please dont use an iphone.... so the Nikon would be my recommendation! :)
