xmac
Hey everyone! Just looking for a quick answer here. I wanted to order the Sectors sets as everyone states the mixes on these are great....but then I came across the Sectors sets on HD Tracks. Now...the only reason I wanted to buy the Sectors CD's was to basically rip them to a lossless format and put them in my iTunes catalog. Is buying the HD Tracks versions of Sectors essentially the exact same thing?
Bluefunk
No, the HDTracks versions are 24bit/ 96kHz FLAC, whereas CD quality is only 16 bit/44 kHz. So, the HDTracks files are higher quality than the CDs. However, you'd need some equipment capable of playing these files to truly appreciate them- some iPods for example will only play 16bit lossless files, so you'd need to convert them. Likewise, if you want to burn them to CD to play on your stereo, you'd have to convert. But if you have an amp or other equipment capable of playing 24bit FLAC files directly, you'll definitely want the HDTracks files.
