For me, there's no contest.

HEMISPHERES!

Since this year is the 35th anniversary of the album, here's hoping RUSH and Rich continue with the great DVD-A/Blu-Ray releases with a 35th anniversary edition of "Hemispheres"!

Then after that they can (and should) do "Permanent Waves", then "Caress of Steel", and then the 80s albums onwards... :)

Power Windows for me, it's 30th is two years away, so it would be nice to see it given the 5.1 treatment

...done by Steven Wilson.

Yeah I wish that would be the case (as I'm sure do many others, including Steven himself), but I just can't see Rush parting with Chycki for anyone else doing the 5.1 mixes.

But, at least Steven's got his hands dirty recently with new mixes being released this year from Jethro Tull, XTC, and YES!! :)

Quite. For those not in the know...

In October, Yes will re-release the 1972 album Close To The Edge. Again, this will be available in CD/DVD-A and CD/Blu-ray formats with additional tracks, plus new stereo and 5.1 mixes from Steven Wilson.

Good news & bad news!

Good: Looks like an SACD of "Hemispheres" will be released in August!

Bad: It's from Audio Fidelity, so chances are it will be stereo only.

I'm still holding out for a possible CD/DVD-A and/or CD/Blu-Ray reissue of "Hemispheres" this year, since it's the 35th anniversary.

It's always possible such a release could come out at the very end of the year.

I know a lot of people dog Rich Chycki for the 5.1 mixes, but they're better than nothing, aren't they? ;)

For me, it'll be amazing to have Hemispheres, Power Windows, and Counterparts in 5.1 with bonus live songs. Doesn't matter if it's done by Steven Wilson (though I think all of us wish it'd be done by him), Richard Chycki, or even David Bottrill, if it's done well, it should be fantastic.

the whole darn thing! all the roady cases full of 5.1!..but if I had to choose one...mmmmm....put some VIAGRA to PRESTO pleaaaaase, Richard Chiky, the caveman and bouzze, re mix, re master re do it

Presto can be remixed/remastered ten times over in everyway possible but the only way to make it sound ballsey would be a re-recording using different instruments. You can only do so much with the original master tapes. A mid-rangey Wal bass and clean-sounding single coil pickup Signature guitars are still going to sound just the same in the end.

Gotta be Hemispheres done by Steven Wilson on account of a) his talent for 5.1 mixes and b) it's his favourite rush album. Waves and Kings would also be excellent. The only other album I'd be keen to hear on a 5.1 blu-ray would be clockwork angels, maybe power windows, but the rest? Nah.

yes and no, you could fatten the guitars up by sending the signal out down an auxiliary line and returning them with a slight delay (eg a very small number of milliseconds, but not too much (no echo) then duplicating the signal, essentially "cloning" the signal, possibly panning each stereo pair of guitar returns to fill out the very thin sounding mix that presto suffers from) as for the bass, if there's an unmolested dry bass on the source tape (eg it was eq'd during mixdown as opposed to eq'd during tracking) you could clone it, then roll off the mids and fattten up the low end, but if the source (eg bass track) was eq'd during tracking, this could be VERY difficult.
