Any Rush albums you don't own?

So even though I consider myself a rabid Rush fan, there are still a few albums that I don't own. Not to say that I never have owned them, of course. There was a time in my life when financially, I was in pretty dire shape, and I had to sell of just about all of the music I owned just to keep living in the crappy basement apartment I had. That's a whole different, sordid story, though, and that was about fourteen years ago. But anyway, there are a few Rush albums that I've never picked up again since then. I know I can't be the only on on the board here who doesn't own ALL of the albums. (Hmmmm, but how many people among us here are even willing to admit it? ;)

 

These are the Rush albums missing from my collection:

 

The debut

Exit Stage Left

A Show of Hands

Chronicles

Vapor Trails (this is the only one that I don't have because I really just don't care for it- that's not true of the others here)

 

 

Anybody else?

Nine out of ten times, when I throw in a Rush CD, it's a live one. I just really like the live recordings.

Why are people posting compilations? Those dont rate as proper albums IMO. I have all of them, though I listen to Vapor Trails the least because, well...its garbage. My fave is and always has been

I never bothered with the last couple of live albums. I just didn't see the point. I have a whole bunch of live Rush albums and I really NEVER listen to them - I like a couple of tracks here and there where they really diverge from the original studio recording like By-Tor on ATWAS or YYZ on ESL, etc. but mostly I find them to contain rougher versions of their studio tracks that are great when you see them live, but not too exciting on the recordings - I find myself almost always wishing I was listening to their more polished studio counterparts.

 

And besides, Geddy's voice has deteriorated a lot live in the last few years, and it makes me kind of sad (and I kind of cringe) when I hear these latter day later live recordings...

I really don't have any live albums beyond "Different Stages". While I do own "Caress of Steel" on vinyl and cassette tape, I never bought the CD. I own all their principle albums on CD except that one. I like the album, but I don't play as much Rush as I used to so I kinda stopped buying them. I'll probably get it eventually, but it's not on my "hot" list right now.

Ahhh, good point Lerxster. I didn't even have all of the compilation stuff in mind, that the market has been inundated with over the past ten years or so. I guess since I included Chronicles in my "don't have" list, then that elicits an inconsistency in my thought process, there. But anyway...

 

Exit Stage Left is the most glaring of all of the ones I'm missing. I need to pick it up again. I watch the DVD on a pretty regular basis, though.

I have Caress of Steel on vinyl with gate fold sleeve but don't have it on CD.I also don't have the following;

AWAS

Hold Your Fire

I confess I sold Counterparts couldn't get into it. Could quite happily do the same with Vapor Trails

Like the opening poster I went through a tough time financially and sold all my Rush 12 inch singles which I regretted.

I have all of the original studio albums and I have every live album in one form or another (some I have on CD and others on DVD).

 

I don't care about special editions or compilations, so I don't have any.

 

The only album that I'm missing is Feedback. I'll get it eventually.

I bought a Rush compilation called Gold because it was cheap and the mastering is really crisp. I've mentioned this before but no one has responded. Two CD's, first one featuring songs from Rush to Permanent Waves, the second one from Moving Pictures to Hold Your Fire.

I've HEARD every rush album more times than you can count, and that includes every single live album, all the studio albums (otherwise, what the hell are you doing on a rush fan forum) and a shitload of bootlegs

 

however, I only own about 4 or 5 CDs and about 13 or so LPs
