My personal experience with this situation (all Saratoga Springs NY except Manchester NH in 2012):

2004 - got into presale the instant it opened and got pretty decent seats

2007 - got into presale the instant it opened and got front row

2008 - missed the start but got so-so seats half an hour into presale

2010 - got into presale the instant it opened and got very similar seats to 2004

2012 - got into presale and got "no tickets available" after many tries - ended up on secondary market to assume control of my seats

2013 - got into presale and got "no tickets available" - tried again after 1.5 hrs and got very similar seats to 2004

The "no tickets available" behavior appears to be recent.

That point about the pre-sales is exactly what's bothering me RE: this tour, bootlegguy. :rage: Until 2012, we used to receive almost a week's notice before the pre-sales for our 'desired' concert dates would even start. This year, it's been less than 24-hours notice prior to the start of most Rush pre-sales!!!!!!!!! :o :( Most of my friends buying Rush tickets this year, have noticed this, too, and they are not happy about it either!!!!!!!!!! :boo hiss: Something is definitely WRONG here!!!!!!!!!!

I hadn`t even heard of this `musictoday`until yesterday, never used them before. Hopefully they are legit because you guys talked about it, I`m surprised they don`t email a receipt like ticketmaster does.

It also drive me nuts that dates are announced and the first pre sales start a few hours later. This isn`t enough time to try and ask any of your friends if they want to come, or arrange further distance travel if you have to.

In an attempt to dissuade scalpers from purchasing all the presale tickets the promoters have decided to use this method.. which is VERY inconvenient to fans, but serves a purpose.

As for finding friends or making travel arrangements.. you have a minimum of 4 months to work all that out.

And yes, MusicToday is reputable. RUSH has been using them since 2004 without *much* trouble.

As usual, it is the HONEST FANS who suffer, when attempts are made to "dissuade scalpers", unfortunately!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :finbar: :banghead:  :|

Some people are only happy when they're miserable.

Announce the pre-sales too early and brokers gobble up tickets like crazy.

Announce the pre-sales too late and people whine about the lack of notice.

There is no possible way to make everybody happy.. they're just trying to do their best to at least give the fans a CHANCE at beating the brokers.

People need to realize that ticket availability is a complete scam and try to work the system. For instance, I attended November's show in Seattle. I had faith that good seats would magically open up on Ticketmaster the week of the show. The day before the show I got 11th row for me and my friend who traveled with me. These tickets were obviously available the whole time and yet never showed up in listings until the day before?!? It has been obvious to me for years that ticket agencies make seats available on a drip feed and you are never seeing the real availability picture, even on the good stadiums like Seattle where you can pick your seats on an interactive map. For S&A, I didn't get tickets in advance at all, just traveled to the venue and got to pick from a nice selection from a scalper outside. Only cost me $5 more than face value. For the TM tour, I got 7th row face value from the box office three weeks in advance.

I know tl;dr, but the bottom line is you don't need to rush (HA!) making a ticket purchase, new tickets are always made available closer to the show.

For Portland after about 5 minutes I got row "R" on the floor. I didn't want them so tried again and five minutes later got row"P". Since I seemed to be getting closer as time went on I tried again and five minutes later got row 6 on Geddy's side. For Salt Lake City it took about 10 minutes to get through but got 10th row center on the first try so I kept them. Went with VIP for Denver.
