1973 was a killer year for music...and here's why!

Nothing shameful about enjoying Something/Anything?, or anything Todd Rundgren did for that matter.

And thumbs up to whoever mentioned Tom Waits' Closing Time and Innervisions by Stevie Wonder.

Maybe not for you, man, but... its pop... its pop.

I feel so dirty...

It's amazing pop. Besides, Rundgren has plenty of progressive music too. He's not just a pop artist. Can't be afraid to dive into it.

Yes, i know, i heard all his prog stuff, thats why i tried his pop. It was quite a surprise actually. But you got to understand what that does to my confidence as a proghead.

Who can argue wit the mighty In A Glass House, Dark Side Of the Moon, Selling England By The Pound, and of course, Tales From Topographic Oceans

:haz: Great year, although overall I probably prefer 1972 and 1971. :)

In no particular order:

Genesis - Selling England By The Pound

Peter Hammill - Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night

Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire

Gentle Giant - In A Glass House

Museo Rosenbach - Zarathustra

ELP - Brain Salad Surgery

Return to Forever - Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy

Frank Zappa - Overnite Sensation

Gong - Flying Teapot

Greenslade - Greenslade

BOC - Tyranny and Mutation

Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy

Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies

Deep Purple - Who Do We Think We Are

I'm probably missing a few since I had to check Wikipedia and Progarchives for the release dates.

Or that non cover album by Bowie, Aladdin Sane for that matter.

Aladdin Sane has some great songs on it for sure, but for some reason I've never gotten into that album as a whole. That may change in time...

I know there's gonna be a few more amazing albums awaiting discovery for 1973 but so far this is what I got. A truly astonishing year for quality imo :o

Rick Wakeman - The Six Wives of Henry VIII

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon

Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy

Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire

Yes - Yessongs

Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans

Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells

Queen - Queen

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

The Wailer's - Burnin'

The Who - Quadrophenia

1973 was EPIC.

This goes back to a poll I wrote a year ago or so stating how from 1969-1979 was the best decade in all of musical genres!

I must nominate Budgie's "Never Turn Your Back On A Friend" album from 1973.

Seventies Music RULES!

Nothing will ever touch it in my 44 year old mind.

Still on the fence about that one. I want it for the rest of the remasters-especially On Your Feet,Or On Your Knees, Mirrors and Fire of Unknown Origin, but I'm pissed that I need to rebuy all the other discs I already own to have them! But, like you I'm a fukkin music addict and it's only a matter of time until I cave in and buy it. Now, they need to release a dvd of the 40th anniversary show with the Bouchard brothers! Jesus, I love this fukking band!
