Who would you like to see play the members of Rush in a major motion picture biography?
Posted (edited)

I wouldn't, no offense. It just wouldn't work for me and I'd have trouble seeing it as "the biography of Rush". It'd just be three guys acting as a band and doing bad covers. I think Rush fans would be way too picky about the inevitable Hollywood-izing of the real story and the liberties taken with the script.

Besides, it'd be nigh impossible to top On The Lighted Stage.

I'm thinking Anyhony Hopkins as Neil, Jeff Daniels as Alex and Tilda Swinton as Geddy
Posted

Justin Beiber as a young Geddy, Big Bird as an older Geddy

Korean "Gangnam Style" superstar Psy as a young Alex, Gary Busey as an older Alex

Taylor Lautner as a young Neil, Morgan Freeman as an older Neil

At the end of the movie you could have the members of Rush hanging out in silence. Lifeson sits there puzzled when Geddy blurts out "No. I think a motion picture about us would be a terrible idea. Who the would watch that crap?"

After filming that scene the movie would be cancelled. The footage forgotten until 2112 when the interplanetary starship enterprise finds the footage on the moon where it was left so that nobody could release it. The release of the movie would then spawn numerous religions and trigger the end of famine, war, poverty and greed. Also replicators are invented to help this out but it was mostly Rush.

I'm sorry, what was the question?

Or it could be done MST3000 style, with Geddy, Alex & Neil riffing on it all the way through. "Hey Dirk, are those manhole covers or eyeglasses you have on?" "Ooh, look, Alex is channeling A Flock of Seagulls there."

I totally agree with Mara, although I prefered the movie Beyond the Lighted Stage. ;)

Seriously, a "fictionalized" version of their story, with actors and such, would suck. The BTLS documenatary was awesome.

I love it!

It would be a seriously dull movie. Interesting for us Rush nuts, but a fictionalized version? Of their lives? Work in USB's trailer with the satellite and Mara MST3K treatment, and I think its a winner. Most on this board would probably buy a ticket (I would)

BigBird - would love to see Geddy played by BigBird, excellent call rushgoober.

Although, substancewithoutstyle got a lot of dead ringer look a-likes.

Hmmm...

Geddy: Elijah Wood

Alex: Alec Baldwin

Neil: Harrison Ford

Who do you guys think would make a good director?

I think Ron Howard would be good for this, but I'd love to see Dareen Aronofsky do it, as awful as it sounds xD

I would want Michael Bay to direct, Christopher Nolan producing and JJ Abrams writing the script. :P

HA! A kevin J. Anderson adaption of CA would be better than any Rush material where Bay is involved! Wait, what? Anderson did adapt CA? Well then I guess he stands a chance...

But in all seriousness, Michael Bay would do good for the pyrotechnics on a new tour, but thats about it :P

Yeah, I wouldn't want to see anyone else acting out the Rush boys' lives... I love Rush for not only what they are, but who they are, and I just wouldn't be interested in seeing anyone else prancing around in their shoes.

Give me more Rush documentaries, instead! :)

Yes, totally Michael Bay to direct. George Lucas to produce. JJ Abrams to write. Image the pyrotechnics! And the monsters!

I'm sold on this. Let's make the calls.

Umm…how about Gary Lee Weinrib as Geddy, Alexandar Zivonijovich as Alex, and Neil Ellwood Peart as Neil?

Duh, it's THEM! Otherwise, there should never be a Rush biography. Besides, I highly doubt they'd allow it anyway.
