Presto-digitation
Mark Hamill is 61 years old. Carrie Fisher is 56. Harrison Ford is 70. Episode 7 is expected to continue the adventures of Luke, Leia, and Han Solo. How the film is going to pull this off is anyone's guess..... Has it been confirmed that Episode 7 will follow these characters immediately after what happened in Jedi? The Star Wars universe is very large, there are many different stories they can choose to do. If they do choose to get the original cast members, this story will no doubt be taking place 25-30 years after the events in Jedi. At that point Luke has rebuilt the Jedi Order and he's the master and no longer the only one. That's possible, although conventional wisdom would suggest wanting to pull on the draw of seeing Luke, Han, and/or Leia again. I could very feasibly see Luke as a much older, wiser mentor to his children...or starting a new Jedi academy in a Yoda like role. I think it would be unwise to skip that opportunity altogether by simply fast-forwarding past their lifetimes... If I remember, there were some books based on Han Solo and Princess Leia and they had children. Is this something to go on? Lucas has said these will not necessarily follow the books and will be original stories, but some of these ideas are just logical conclusions. We're left to assume Han and Leia become an item and Luke being the last Jedi, it would make sense that he would try to teach others. So I think invariably you're going to have some common sense crossover ideas, but it sounds like they're not BOUND to the characters and plots from these stories. There's no way they could have the next film start where Return Of The Jedi left off, as Hamill, Fisher, and Ford are just too old now. The new film will have to show Luke as a Jedi Master....perhaps in a struggle with his children or Leia's children going to the Dark Side. They could even have cameos by Anakin and Padme in their spirit forms....bringing back Padme would be a very good idea, IMO.... Well, yes, if it is post-Jedi it'll be POST Jedi...long enough to make their current ages appropriate. Not much going on right after Jedi, I'd imagine, with the Empire vanquished. I'd rather them jump ahead 30+ years. Still, I'd rather them not jump ahead 200 years and skip out on having any of the original cast back. That's a great allure, I think.... Presto-digitation
If they bring back the original cast, Harrison Ford probably won't be apart of it--he hated filming the Star Wars movies. It could have been because of Lucas and his horrible writing. Now that Lucas is gone (and it's been 30 years), Ford may be more agreeable to returning. Agree. I think this will invigorate him, even if it's just a cameo. You have to think Mark would want to do this. AND no dealing with Lucas. I'll bet tons of actors get excited about this... Cowtothesky
The real story to me is that they acquired Industrial Light Magic and Skywalker Sound in this deal. This alone is worth the money.
D3strukt
Remember, they still are very MUCH their own company. I highly doubt Disney actually meddles much with them, don't f**k up a good thing.
Ancient Ways
i don't think Fisher can do it and she does not need the money. Ford definitely does not. Hamill still looks decent and can pull off a mentor type roleand probably would be interested in the money.
Presto-digitation
Mark Hamill announced today that he and Carrie had lunch with George (at his request) in August and told them of his plans to make 7-9 and that they were asked to not say anything. Hamill didn't go further and say that they'll be in the films, but I'm guessing George wouldn't waste his or their time to get them up to speed for no good reason. Sounds like they're in... I can see it now.....the actors are right in the middle of doing a scene, and Lucas happens to pass by, behind the cameras, just to say "Hi"...... Ford and Hamill both stop mid-scene and bark at the director, "You said he wouldn't be coming around, DAMNIT!!"
USB Connector
I'm happy because this might mean less involvement by Lucas, and this means there might be a decent Star Wars movie to be made (Disney has tons of talent to spare and you can't possibly get worse than the prequels). On the other hand, I'm annoyed because the neo-nazi of copyright laws is just growing more powerful. I love Disney for their quality products but I hate them because of how messed our copyright laws are BECAUSE of them.

I think Christopher Lee was offered the Grand Moff Tarkin role but he turned it down so Peter Cushing took it. And then Lee turned down the Dr Loomis role in Halloween but this time Cushing turned that one down as well, they said the 20 grand on offer was not enough. Donald Pleasence wasn't so greedy. So if Peter Cushing had turned down both roles like Lee did would Donald Pleasence have played Tarkin?
