Tombstone Mountain Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Anybody here who's uptight all the time? Maybe alcohol is a solution for your condition...
Thunder Bay Rush Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I don't drink at all but when I was 17 I threw up on a policemen's foot... drinking didn't help me that night! Or him...

invisibleairwaves Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I'd probably drink a lot more if not for the downright criminal government liquor markups here.
Principled Man Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 QUOTE (Babycat @ Oct 4 2012, 03:34 AM)I don't drink - it's what killed my mother. If only everyone would realize that alcohol has probably killed or ruined at least one person in his/her family. Even though we're bombarded with anti-alcohol ads, MADD, newspapers full of alcohol-related tragedies, many of us simply don't let the truth sink in.....

The intention of this thread is humorous...drinking is not evil, but it can make people do evil things in excess
gangsterfurious Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Yeah I wouldn't recommend it as a cure for up-tightness. Although tequila is great for a sore throat and whatever else you can find if you're a lady and it's that-time-of-the-month. Ha. I've watched my grandpa, great-grandpa, great-grandma, father, and uncle all succumb to alcohol related problems. I've seen them suffer from bladder cancer, hypertension, diabetes, prostate cancer... all of which, according to their doctors, was helped right along by their alcohol consumption. I very carefully drink once in awhile myself and have a little wine collection but I have to make sure I don't let it run in the family if you know what I mean. Personally I think gettin' it on with somebody you love is a better cure for being uptight.

Having said that, the reason why I don't- and won't - drink is because I don't want to go down the same route as my mother. In any case, I see what you mean re the thread's intention.
LeaveMyThingAlone Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Now entering my 40's, I find alcohol less and less fun with more and more downside. I quit drinking for 2 big reasons: 1. I tested positive for Diabetes and had to cut carbs. No more Diabetes 2. Alcoholism and addiction is everywhere in my family. I was starting to brink a bit on weekdays...I have kids, don't want to go there Alcohol is as dangerous if not more dangerous than most illegal drugs and most prescriptions, yet alcohol is perceived very differently. It is a depressant and exasperates symptoms of depression...

Amazing how much less I have been drinking the older I get (still in my 30s). I am actually more relaxed than ever, and enjoying life more. I am not out drinking until 1am, waking up at 10 feeling like shit. I get up early, go for a walk with my wife, stop and smell the roses. I too have seen the devastating effects of alcohol, and with that in the family, my primary objective is to set a good example for my kids.
Tombstone Mountain Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 thanks guys---feeling just a little bit smaller right now
invisible airwave Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I only drink during celebratory occasions and when I have money to burn and in moderation. Plus, my stomach doesn't feel so good when I've had some alcoholic drinks so I stopped for a while. Basically, the same problem I had with it is similar to Alice Cooper's. Wasn't so much the mind but the body.
gangsterfurious Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Alsoooooo. A lot of hard liquor is LOADED with sugar, flavoring, food coloring, etc... No bueno!
Shredder2 Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I don't drink. Don't want to, and never will.
Fred Star Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Had a pint (Lager) down the pub the other day whilst watching the football (as one does or does'nt).. made my skin crawl.

Tombstone Mountain Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 Is the election making anyone drink heavily? Never thought alcohol could help with this, but it makes incredible sense
