Bone head RUSH fans

Only had a couple moments for me in Chicago...

- My son and I had aisle seats, the 2 people next to us (a couple) got up at least a dozen times during the show to pee/get beer. I finally said "do you just want to trade seats" and he gave me a look and said "this is the last time"

- Ran down to get shirts at intermission and saw a few college kids walking, one guy so hammered that he had to be supported by his friends. I felt bad for the guy because I was that guy ONCE. Years ago, the day after the concert I said to my friend "I wish they played Limelight" and my friend said "they DID". Never again.

- Coming back to my seat after getting the shirts, some guy points to me and yells drunken gibberish. I only made out 2 words "three"and "windows." I assumed he said something about my Power Windows shirt I was wearing.

Geez...I like the first response. "It's a rock concert". And oh my god they were "overweight"? Oh, the horror. Rush has been around while, alot of their fans range from 35-60. We get a little ponch at that age.

Settle down, mellow out and don't take yourself so seriously. It's a freaking rock show.

It's a rock concert, a few rotten apples in the bunch are to be expected. Don't let them spoil your time.

But STILL...I will say it isn't pleasant to be surrounded by inebriated, borderline belligerent mid-40s douchebags screaming, "PLAY RED BARCHETTTTTAA!!!" during most of the first set.  banghead.gif

So when you hit your mid 40's you'll also be a douche? By your own account, sounds like it. If not already.

What makes you think that? Having an opinion is being douchey now? confused13.gif

At the Vapor Trails tour in Milwaulkee, I was seventh row on Alex's side and this complete drunken douchebag behind me would just not shut the f*ck up and kept tapping me on the shoulder to talk jibberish through most of the first set. Next thing I know, I feel something warm on my leg and low and behold he was full fledged pissing right then and there... on my leg

Took everything in my power not to clobber him, but I knew it get me thrown out, so I had to get security to toss him out.

It was a pathetic scene.

Same thing happened to me in the pit at the DC Maiden Somewhere Back in Time tour. The guy was blind drunk and actually peed twice! Set a bad tone and almost ruined the entire experiences. asshole.

People can be so dumb. Asshole. angry.gif

Somehow, back in the day, we could deal with concert experiences. Course there was more cool10.gif than drunks, and most of the audience was in the same demograhic, but still a lot of stuff happened and security was much more lax.

I did dislike the angry drunks after the CA show. I saw three almost-fights on the way out. People used to leave rock concerts happy for the most part. Strange how things change. Then again, it might have been pent up rage because of the set list.

whiners. Rock show folks. Stop going to security and ushers and have them do your dirty work. If your a girl fine ask them. Just go up and start shit with the people that are disruptive. They ruin it for you ruin it for them. We did just that at a show recently. The stupid drunks wouldn't shut up. We were about to ruin their faces. At least my ex military friend was. He has a very bad temper when f*cked with. We have each others back. After 9 years in Afghanistan in search in rescue these tools at rock concerts are petty shit. got them to shut up pretty fast. show was a great time.

It doesn't always work out that way. If you start fighting you could all get kicked out. If your bad tempered soldier friend hurts someone bad enough he will get arrested and possibly sued.

Everyone's so angry. If the drunks are just being obnoxious, what's new. Cell phone holders are obnoxious too but it is allowed. Some rotund guy was pushing into my little space, no excuse me or anything, and I just nudged him but no big deal. Two people stole our seats when we went to the bathroom during intermission. It was a crowded mess getting them to move out and getting us back to our seats and then hearing their excuses. Still, whatever.

Frankly, there were a fair amount of people who just looked pissed off at the show even if they seemed to be enjoying the music. I don't get it, maybe that's the new thing.

In my experience, if you start remonstrating with anyone you could be the one who ends up ejected.

I'm not going to be drinking or smoking anything when I see the boys. I want to enjoy every minute of it.

What that being said I am sure there will be a few of those loud, dumb, chubsters, that are on their like 35th Rush show and don't really care anymore, or they think Tom Sawyer is the greatest song EVER and that's the only reason they are there to see them.

I don't think you should be afraid to tell somebody to have some STFU if they are being an annoying pig. After all, you paid your hard earned money to listen to the band, not those guys.

One of the last concerts I went to, a loud drunk floozy in front of us was making it difficult for everybody around her to enjoy the show. We had no problem asking security to escort her out, which they did.

I always like to remind people politely that I am at a show to hear the band, not them. And then if that doesn't work I turn to them and offer to give them a free nose job... with my fist.

I like to see the reaction I get when a girl says that to them, seems to shut them up every time.

Where were you when I needed you?

Probably right here typing away in some forum about the lack of Rush t-shirts for women or how cute I think Geddy is.

I am a personal ninja for hire though. Just let me know when you might need my services.

Can I hear you for the Edmonton show on Sunday?

The boisterous singing of lyrics of every song and fist-pumping? The consumption of spirits? "Rocking" as it is called? I disapprove of such poppycock.

So when does the line between being the drunken a$$hole/obnoxious idiot, and having a good time excited fan get drawn? This will be only be my second concert, and I'm concerned that I'll be "that guy" or in this case "kid." During my first concert I really didn't give a shit (It was THE WALL, so I sang every lyric since it was so near and dear to me, but not at the top of my lungs, I was still kind of reserved). I know that everyone else is trying to enjoy the show with me aswell, so is there a point where I should not throw my hands up in the air while I'm having a blast, or not be singing the lyrics to these songs? I get the whole thing about they're there to see the band, and not me but, I'm there for the same reason. So which is it "Conform or Be Cast Out?" Edited by pfrushfan0122

Anyone offended by drunken revelry at a rock concert is misguided.

The issue here, which has been clearly stated, is the drunken revelry which interferes with or ruins other fans' revelry.

No one has the right to ruin someone else's concert experience. One's level of sobriety/drunkeness is irrelevant. If you keep bumping into people, or spilling your Coca-Cola on them, or screaming the lyrics in your neighbor's ear, etc., then you are in the wrong. Stop being so childish and treat others with respect.

Sorry, I'm singing along.

No, spilling drinks and invading space isn't cool, but if you don't want people to loudly sing, then go to see some chamber music.

I think an awful lot of Rush fans treat the show as something more than a good time rock show.

It's not a religious experience, except for those on psychotropic drugs. Which I wasn't, this time.

One more point -- of course, dumping a beer on someone is unacceptable and calling them out as a boor is perfectly acceptable.

It's also obvious.

What else is unacceptable is telling some in front of you who is rocking out to sit down so you can soak up every tiny nuance. That's also interfering woth someone else's experience.

Tit for tat, and all that.

You know the old saying, " Instant A-HOLE----just add brew/booze.

It just slightly nullifys the experience..afterall ,we go to gig's,

to have a great time..not to see/hear drunk, belligerent, numbnut's

make total fools out of themselves.

Come on , people..be considerate to your fellow RUSH fanatic's....

Don't be jerk-offs.

EXACTLY.

Shail - you're a idiot of epic proportions. Glad you are so tough bringing an "ass kicker" friend because you can't even handle shit by yourself, go to Rush concerts, premeditatedly open to trying to kick the shit out of other fans.

Tough guy? No. You're a f**king loser. I hope you get your eggs scrambled really good at one of these shows.
