Bone head RUSH fans

I just got done seeing my 16th show in Chicago.The last three shows I have been at I get the bone head RUSH fans who are white males in there 40s who have this great desire to drink as much alcohol before during and after the show. This time it was four of them with there stupid crew cuts, over weight, one of them had bottles of booze on him that he had to swing in between the beers. Oh then at the end one of them was hitting some weed them almost fell over. The twenty year old fans act better then these yahoos. Idiots!

It's a rock concert dude. Give me a freaking break. These are the kinds of things that make people think all Rush fans are geeks.

 

I've been to Metallica, Guns n Roses, Green Day, etc...believe me Rush crowds are Justin Bieber crowds compared to most rock crowds

One of the reasons i enjoyed seeing Rush at Jones Beach during the Snakes and R30 tours is that they have a no alcohol policy at the theater

 

I remember i saw Rush at the Ford Amphitheater in Florida during the R30 tour and this drunk who happened to be the prototypical boneheaded white guy Rush fan in his 40's that u described splashed me with beer a few times, screamed in my ear and was generally a pest. I told him he needed to stop the screaming in my ear and he had to be careful with his beer and the guy's response was " or what?!" I had told him nicely even tough i was absolutely furious but he responded with a threat. I turned to him, clenched my fists and looked him in the eye and said "or ill break your f***ing face!!". His friend who was not drunk quickly switched seats with him. Then after intermission they never came back. Why do ppl get that drunk at Rush concerts? It's cool to get high but why drunk and unruly?!

 

Im seeing them at the Prudential Center and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn this year so hopefully I dont have any problems with the drunk boneheaded Rush fans

Rush is a different type of rock concert, cuz is a band you actually want to see. If i go to a Green day concert i wanna hear em but i dont care too much about actually seem them so in that case dancing, moshing,moving around,, getting splashed with beer, screamed/whisted in my ear during songs etc is fine by me but at a Rush concert NO WAY! I want to see/hear the concert without people invading my personal space.

It's a rock concert, a few rotten apples in the bunch are to be expected. Don't let them spoil your time.

 

But STILL...I will say it isn't pleasant to be surrounded by inebriated, borderline belligerent mid-40s douchebags screaming, "PLAY RED BARCHETTTTTAA!!!" during most of the first set.

Wait...where were you sitting? I think we had the same experience. I had four dudes from Wisconsin sitting behind me talking through the ENTIRE show (kept yelling for 2112 --- annoying, but at least they got their wish). They had to be hammered. I'll agree that it's a rock concert, so some dumbassery is to be expected, but I've been to many a show where people were drinking and having a good time, but not being douchebags. Talking through the entire show is being a dick. For god's sake, at least scream, hoot and holler or sing. Anything but yammering through the entire show.

 

I was in section 307, so not super seats, but I paid a pretty penny for them.

 

Still, it was a fun show, and I'll likely be back for more the next time Rush tours.

I had a problem with the same type of assholes at the TM tour (somehow I've avoided them all these years). What pissed me off the most was them leaving their seats every other song! I mean here I am with my wife, with floor level seats, 20th row, and these guys are screwing around! Really! What are they here for? Well then they decide to leave there seats right in the middle of "Through the Camera Eye", I flipped out! They have never played it live, and dammit, I wanted too enjoy the moment! I should know better, and I'm not a hot head, but my wife had to calm me down! Lol! I was ready to throw down! They ended up apologizing, and never leaving their drunken seats after that.

I don't have a problem with someone having a beer or two, and enjoying the show. But what is the point of spending all that money for good seats,then getting smashed, before the show even starts? I mean you shouldn't have to get drunk to enjoy a Rush concert!

By the way, I'm 35, I do not drink, and when I go to any concert, I want to enjoy, and remember the moment of music. Pretty simple concept!

Yeah other classic rock shows are far worse, everybody starts tossing down those blue drinks with the sippy straws and woo hoo bye bye brain cells! Fights break out, it's soon a party of numbskulls.

 

I actually like going to see newer bands, folks are far more into the music it seems.

LOL. For the record, I am NOT one of those fans. I quit drinking and haven't smoked a doobie in 10 years. I am on my feet just enjoying the show from the first until the last second and never think about leaving

 

I'm just saying, it's a rock concert so to get worked up about guys getting drunk or smoking weed is silly. That's what happens at rock concerts, yes, even Rush

Yep, It's a rock concert but if what's being described above is anything like what I've seen at large gigs in the UK it soon crosses the boundary between being enthusiastic about the show and just being plain inconsiderate and obnoxious.

 

These days when buying tickets I tend to use the facilities on website to position myself on the end of a row where it's always much easier to just step a few feet way from these assholes. All the more easier if there's no seating.

 

Personally I think large part of the blame rests with the the venues and their insistence on allowing people to take alcohol into the arena. It's not a big issue at an outdoor show but in an indoor arena it does cause problems.

 

I'm surprised people are still allowed to smoke in indoor arenas in the USA. That's not been allowed over here for many years (thank God).

S&A tour at Blossom six rows back pavilion Geddy side, a group of crew cut frat boy's decided to mosh and being idiots in general. I don't mind people having a good time getting into the music like you should. But don't interfere with others enjoyment and getting in there personal space. Getting plowed at a Rush concert seems like a waste of the whole experience and someone being in there 40's-50's embarrassing and juvenile. Sure i acted this way... when i was 18.

What that being said I am sure there will be a few of those loud, dumb, chubsters, that are on their like 35th Rush show and don't really care anymore, or they think Tom Sawyer is the greatest song EVER and that's the only reason they are there to see them.

 

I don't think you should be afraid to tell somebody to have some STFU if they are being an annoying pig. After all, you paid your hard earned money to listen to the band, not those guys.

 

One of the last concerts I went to, a loud drunk floozy in front of us was making it difficult for everybody around her to enjoy the show. We had no problem asking security to escort her out, which they did.

 

I always like to remind people politely that I am at a show to hear the band, not them. And then if that doesn't work I turn to them and offer to give them a free nose job... with my fist.

 

I like to see the reaction I get when a girl says that to them, seems to shut them up every time.

i am sure sure i have horrified many folks and i just don't give a rip.

 

a rush show is a holiday within itself and ample good reason to party and enjoy it any way you see fit. needless to say, with a designated driver.

 

that said, you do need to watch yourself for the dude about to puke. usually you can tell pretty easily.

 

i had some jerkoff do a back flip and landed on my back from the next row up at the allman brothers at red rocks.

I had this Experience at the my latest "The Wall" concert in florida. There were 3 guys half drunk and about to fall over onto the next row where a pregnant woman was sitting and pretty irritated. Then one of the guys just began to curse out load. It was one after another and there were many families situated around them. Long story short we called the cops and they were told to settle down or it was going to be a very long and showless night for them.

 

They became very quiet and civil after that. Consequently, everyone enjoyed the show including them. Sometimes calling the authorities is all that needs to transpire.
