toscanobarga
QUOTE (Na na na @ Sep 30 2012, 10:22 AM) QUOTE (toscanobarga @ Sep 30 2012, 12:56 PM) Sports Arena is a horrible place for a show. Hot, cramped, not enough bathrooms, walkways in concessions/bathroom areas too narrow. I was referring to the Chula Vista show in 2007 being about half full. The lawn is more than half the capacity and there was no one on the lawn and the seats were maybe 2/3 full, so less than half. Just a friendly stat correction, Gibson holds just over 6,000 so 90% sold is about right. July 30, 2007 Chulta Vista, CA Coors Amphitheater Capacity: 9,831 Attendance: 8,959 Gross: $412,235 Average Ticket Price: $46.01 Those are the number of SEATS. The lawn has an additional capacity of over 10,000 Lawn ticket holders were being upgraded to the seats that night.

I'm not too sure on the capacity to attendance numbers game. But I do believe the sound quality has 'somehow' improved, a bit over the years... I see probably 10 shows a year at the Arena, and while the sound quality definitely leaves something to be desired, the sound, depending on where you sit has improved considerably in recent years... I think it may be attributed to the rise of sound tech/mixer technology... A good sound tech can tweak the sound to make-up for some of the venue inconsistencies. Regardless of venue condition or sound....I could never sit home when RUSH was playing in my home town... RUSH is the twilight of their career, definitely nearing if not at the end of touring, and with no guarantees that they will ever be back to San Diego.... I will be at that crummy, dingy, cramp and ancient venue...and loving every minute of it.
