LeaveMyThingAlone Posted September 10, 2012 Share Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) I'm seeing all these tweaked setlists and it's interesting to read when you don't have limitations, but what if you could only take 5 songs out and replace them with 5 that are somewhat logical and in theme with where Rush is in their careers, what would those 5 be? Subdivisions Big Money Force 10 Kid Gloves (Replace Body Electric) Cut to the Chase (Replace Grand Designs) Jacobs Ladder (Replace Territories) Analog kid Bravado Wheres my thing Far Cry Set 2 Caravan BU2B (Replace Wish them Well) Clockwork Anarchist Carnies Wreckers Headlong flight Halo effect The garden Manhattan project 2112 (REPLACE RED SECTOR A) YYZ Working man Encore Tom Sawyer Limelight Spirit of radio I know I am in the minority but I am really disappointed at no BU2B, my favorite off the album and it has become one of my all time fav Rush tunes. I also think it really came off well live during the Time Machine Tour. Reaplace Wish them Well with BU2B Never cared for Power Windows so 4 songs off that album just doesn't excite me. I took out Territories and replaced with Cut to the Chase one of those inexplicable songs they won't play but it rocks I love love love Grace Under Pressure but they happened to pick my 2 least favorite songs from that album. Take out Red Sector A and throw in 2112 which always gets the crowd's juices flowing. I toom out The Body Elecric and replaced with one of my facorite Rush songs from the 80's-Kid Gloves I am on the same page with everyone else. Jacob's Ladder is epic and must be played. But since they are playing so many deep cuts, I think it's only right that the end it with a big hit since there's a bunch of new stuff coming in the second set people might not be as familiar with yet. As far as the second set goes, I think playing nine new songs in a row is a bit much. That's why I split it up by putting in two well known songs that weren't played on the last tour. It will prevent the inevitable when it comes to people who don't know the new material from getting too bored because they're hearing song after song they don't know. I took out Working Man because if they do play anything from the 70s it should be 2112 even though they've played it a ton it's a huge crowd pleaser. Manhattan Project / Dreamline YYZ Working Man The Spirit of Radio (Removed Red Sector A, which I hated to do, and in it's spot moved The Spirt of Radio to close Set 2.) Okay, changes might be questionable and over 5 because of moving some things around, but physically adding or removing should be 5. Hard to do only 5 though. I could've butchered the list, mostly from moving things around and taking out/adding more. Also, I did both nights for this. Subdivisions, Big Money,Force Ten, Body Electric,Tom Sawyer , and replace with Xanudu, Peaceable Kingdom,The Larger Bowl,Half the world, Play the entire Clockwork Angels start to finish like they did with moving pictures .
