Originally, when I bought this album, I liked Subdivisions, but prior to listening to the whole album, the only songs I had heard from it were Subdivisions and New World Man. So after listening to the album, I found myself enjoying the catchy riffs of Chemistry and the metaphors of The Weapon. Losing It has a really powerful message, although the violin is a little unnerving. Unfortunately, Countdown just does not show much creativity. I know this album has significantly more keyboard in it than anything before or since, but I actually like that. But the one song I find myself repeating over and over without ever getting tired of is The Analog Kid. I enjoy the lyrics, especially in the bridge and the end. Too many hands on my time Too many feelings Too many things on my mind When I leave I don't know what I'm hoping to find And when I leave I don't know what I'm leaving behind I know it's been repeated many times, but it is one of my favorite of all Rush lyrics. What I really enjoy is the synth melody in the background during the guitar solo. It just provides a really haunting sound to the song. Ultimately, I have always seen this song as a message about trying to hold onto youth and dreams even as growing up and reality try to push in on our lives. btw, I have my own fawn eyed girl with sun browned legs. I love Subdivisions, one of the best synth tracks I've heard, but the sound of the violin on Losing It is a perfect compliment.
